My Personal Prison

That sound will forever be
Ringing in my ears
Was it that metal door being shut
Or the voices of disappointment
That sight will forever be
Imprinted into my eyes
Was it the bars
Or the looks of disgust
That smell will forever
Linger in the air
Was it the smell of fear
Or the bridges that were burned
That feeling will forever
Remain in my soul
Was it the cold touch of reality
Or the honor slipping out of my hands
That taste will forever
Remain in my mouth
Was it my pride that I swallowed
Or the tears of my family
This will always be my personal prison.
