Dear friend, I understand your pain.
The tears you cry, like falling rain.
The grief that you feel will never end.
But, I beg of you, take heart my friend.
It's okay to grieve. It's okay to cry.
It's okay to laugh, and then sit and sigh.
It's okay to be hurt by well-meaning friends,
As long as you know that hurt will mend.
When you rant at God, and stamp and demand,
He loves you well, so He'll understand.
He won't let you stumble on your own,
Trudging along, with a heart of stone.
He'll send you friends to lean upon,
To grieve with you for the son who's gone,
To give you hugs when you cry your tears,
To touch your hand and ease your fears.
He'll come to you when you're most alone,
When your aching heart feels it can't go on.
Then, He'll carry you in loving arms,
And soothe your pain with the Spirit's calm.
He'll raise you up on eagle's wings
Till, once again, you begin to sing.
So rest, my friend, in his promise given,
That He died and rose so you'd be forgiven,
That you would be born to eternal life,
And leave behind all trouble and strife.
Draw on His strength in your sorrow, so deep.
Know that He's there when you mourn and weep,
Crying with you, as He shares your pain.
And that, in His time, you'll be whole again.
