It all started back in Owen J. Roberts High School in 1992. Where would I attend college? A question many high school juniors struggle with. I originally wanted to become a pilot. That major greatly restricts the number of schools you can attend. From asking around, I discovered Embry-Riddle had a reputation as the best.

One thing I didn't pay that much attention to was the fact that there were 8 guys for every girl on campus. I figured, so what..this is Daytona Beach!! Spring break, Bike Week, Daytona 500, Daytona Supercross, there will be plenty of girls...

Once there, I noticed a severe lack of women. In most classes I would consider myself lucky if there was one girl! And believe me, just because they marked the F box on the application did not mean you could tell from the back that she was in fact, a girl.

As time passed, it became worse. All these women, despite their appearance, were being chased by 10-15 guys. That kind of audience will give any girl an attitude. Now, not only were there way too many guys, but the women were stuck up.

I have to be fair here. From what I saw and heard from the few women I actually talked to, most of the guys there were the guys who, in college lived for classes like Chemistry. There were also a large number of foreign students. This just isn't a combination for a good social atmosphere.

I must be honest and say I did not drink until the end of my freshmen year at Riddle. I feel in some ways the school 'drove me to drinking'. That probably isn't entirely accurate because if I went to a large party school, I'm sure I would have started drinking there as well.

Once and a while, when we had the opportunity, we would travel to a near by school like Florida State or The University of Florida! Those weekend were probably the best times of college. Everyone was friendly, there was school spirit, parties, and football games!! All of which were almost non-existent at Riddle.

As if the campus life wasn't bad enough, everyone in the town thought of Riddle students as 'spoiled rich kids'. Trust me, there were plenty, but there are also those of us with thousands in school loans and for others, 4 years in the military.

Alright, enough of that...here are a few terms you will become very familiar with should you ignore my warning and attend Riddle anyway:

Phrase	Meaning
Riddle goggles	When you think a girl is cute because you have been deprived for so long.
BBNP	Big Boned with a Nice Personality -- used to justify why you danced with a girl who weighed more then you did.
Party 'til she's cute	Drink enough alcohol to make BBNP girls look hot.
Going to study in the library	This is another way of saying, I'm going to do shots to drown my sorrows in a dark corner of our library, would you like to join me?
