Handgun Carry Permit New amendment effective October 1st 1996
Permit will be valid for four (4) years & cover any handgun(s)
legally owned by the permit holder The cost is $100.00. Permit must
be in possession of the holder when carrying a handgun and to be displayed
on demand of a Officer of the law. Where to go what to do?
For residents of Dyer County you can get an application from the
Department Of Safety at the Drivers License station. You must have a back
ground check done and complete a course in firearms training. The length
of the class is eight (8) hours.
Please understand if you choose to wear your handgun (exposed) on the outside of your clothing The officers are only doing there job, So be sure to have your I.D. ready to show that you are legal. I would recommend that you conceal the weapon to avoid being checked out every time an officer sees you.
