When I Was Young

I asked him, "do you want to marry me?"
he replied, "I'll have to ask my mom..."

"Kids say the darnest thing..." This happened when I was in kindergarten. One day I came home after school and said to my mom, "mom, I want to get married. And I asked this boy in my class if he'd marry me. He said that he'll have to ask his mom. He'll tell me tomorrow." My mom said that I took it very seriously... at that age. but the boy told me the next day that his mom said no.

I'd cry until my face turned purple...

When I was no more than 2 years old, both my parents were still in graduate school. I was their treasure, since my sister wasn't born yet. But I have this weird habit (not all the time though): I wouldn't go to sleep on my bed at night, and my mom had to literally drive me around in the car at night for me to fall asleep. I wouldn't go to sleep on a bed, but rather, on my car seat in our car. So whenever I was in the mood of sleeping in the car, I'd cry and cry, as loudly as I could, until my face turned purple and couldn't breathe. Sometimes my mom would take me out on the stroller at night so I could fall asleep that way. She said that there was this one time, she took me out on the stroller at night to a park nearby. When I finally fell asleep, she stopped and sat on a bench to study (remember, she was still in school). A little boy about 5 came up to her, pointed at her face, and said, "you shouldn't take your baby out at night. It's cold. The baby is gonna catch a cold!" and he ran away. My mom was like, "what the..."
