Before coming to Canada, there was little chance for me to try anything athletic.
But in my second year (my junior year) in SMS, Regina Montag, the school rowing coach as well as one of the house mothers in the
residence halls, asked me if I would be interested in joining the school rowing team.
I didn't even know what "rowing" was, let alone being interested in it. I joined anyway, and I fell in love the second time in my life.
I went on to join the Victoria City Rowing Club (VCRC) with 3 other teammates from our school. It was a blast.
Unfortunately, rowing is a sport enjoyed only by those who are involved. Most people look at it with indifference.
But people who are fortunate enough to be involved in the sport usually develop a passion that lasts a lifetime.
