Chapter 1
The Creation of the SPORK

In a time very long ago, war ravaged a peaceful land. This was the war between the Forks and Spoons. Many hated the war because the reasons for it were unjust. A small group of Forks and an even smaller group of Spoons decided to run away to the caverns (a large, forgotten ruin in a remote corner of the land). There, they and their offspring lived peacefully for many centuries. They needed to break away from their separate gods and practices and become as one people. So Balthazzar, the great wizard, spent 3 days and nights trying to splice together the religious emblems of the two peoples. He called his creation the SPORK. It contained the strength and prestige of the Fork god, Ferama, and the intelligence and cunning of the Spoon god, Daroom. The people accepted this and began to be loyal to the SPORK by practicing it's ways. Years later a small group of Fork soldiers went out to search for a Spoon rouge. They stumbled upon the hidden caverns and were intrigued by what they saw; hundreds of thousands of people surrounded an altar. They pushed their way through the fearing crowd to the altar. When they discovered what they were hailing was not a Fork, they began killing the faithful followers of the SPORK. The people were killed and the caverns burned. As far as they knew, the sacred Spork was destroyed. Centuries later, SPORK was forgotten along with it's secrets. The land was changed by quakes and floods. Where the caverns once were was now a beach. Lem Dul, a homeless collector, wandered about on this beach. As he wandered about, something struck his foot. He picked up what appeared to be a mix of the religious symbols of the two warring tribes. He went to the village to consult the wise man. As he neared the city he was attacked by a thief. Overpowered by rouge, he did the only thing he could; he thrust the artifact into the enemy's heart. He released the object and stood back in horror, appalled at what he had done. Suddenly the thieves soul surged into his body along with the lost secrets of the SPORK. Bystanders who saw this mistook Lem Dul for a wizard or a god and began throwing themselves at his feet, begging him to solve their problems and save their souls. One by one, people began losing faith in their gods and believing in the true power of the SPORK. They gave their souls to the artifact and it's controller, Lem Dirt. He was surprised by the sudden power but did his best to become a just leader. He had many followers. The SPORK had turned him from a peasant into a king. One day he was brought to the king on his death bed. The king had no living sons and wished Lem Dul to take his place when he died. Lem Dirt accepted this and became lord of the kingdom and all the surrounding countryside. The land lived peacefully for a few years, until the kingdom was attacked by a weak group of Spoons. The attack was repelled easily but made Lem Dul realize the importance of having an army. He began to train people for the army. He personally trained them as soldiers, scholars, and healers. His two most gifted students were Zereith and Aragoth. Aragoth excelled at magic use and fighting, Zereith was not as good a fighter but was young and impetuous. He was born in another town and frequently visited his family. One day he was on the way to his home and he was attacked by a Fork foot soldier. He fought his hardest but in the end was destroyed. When news of this reached Lem Dirt he grew very angry. He ravaged the Forks with Aragoth by his side. He showed no mercy and all were killed. He took their souls along with their power. But after the war he was overcome by guilt because this was not His way. Days later at the height of his depression, Aragoth took Lem Dirt's SPORK from it's alter, crept into his chambers, and thrust it through his heart, taking his soul and all those he had taken. Aragoth claimed it was an accident and took over as king. The kingdom fell to shame. Things were no longer run as they were when Lem Dirt was in control. Aragoth had a bloodlust and killed for sport. He killed spoons without mercy until the king could no longer stand it. The King of Spoons challenged Aragoth to a one on one battle, Aragoth agreed. He trained for months until he was sure he was ready. The battle was heated and Aragoth was taken down many times. And then he was taken down for the last time. As he lay on the ground he clutched his SPORK and released souls into his body for power. At last the tortured soul of Lem Dirt was released! It surged through Aragoth's body trying to find his soul. When he found Aragoth's soul he ripped it asunder and tore flesh from bone. This warring of souls created a rift in dimensional time and all of the souls including that of Lem Dirt was lost in an alter dimension. Forks rose to power again and the Spoons took over the land and power that once belonged to the SPORK. The Foons are a group who believe in the religion of the SPORK but follow Aragoth's radical law. They believe Lem DuL should be trapped in another dimension and that there should be war and not peace. They broke away after what is left of the SPORK recaptured their empire by conquering the Spoons. They tasted blood and now believe in war. The mission of the SPORK legion is to find the SPORK created so long ago by Balthazzar. Only by using this can Lem Dirt be released from his alter- dimensional hell. Any SPORKman is willing to give his body for Lem Dirt to return to. One day someone will find it and the legion will rebuild it's once great empire.
