From there on
they talk for what seems like forever,
That first chance
meeting lasted all day,
A more beautiful
woman he’d seen never,
Now it seems
together is just the way.
On birthdays he’d
send her lilies, say she was his prize,
In the sky he’d
write her name,
She was the light
for his darkest skies,
But oh when those
skies came…
They never saw
it coming,
Jake was at the
deli one day,
Ophelia in their
blue Cadillac to sweetest music was humming,
Then the sky
turned grey.
They say the crash
was painless,
But not for that
poor ol’ Jake Ray,
His heart was
torn and in a mess,
When Ophelia
passed away.
Later he found
a note from her,
Marked “To be
opened if I ever go above”,
It simply said
– should the worst occur,
You were, are
and always my one true love…
Back to that fire
licked table,
I tell this tale
of love and shame,
In the light
of fiery embers I say to you…
Honey I feel
the same.
