My Weekly Rant !!

Well HELLO there !! So you're back eh for more useless stuff about me and my life !! Well thatk you for being bothered, it has come to my attention that people ENJOY reading my rants which gives me a warm tingly feeling inside ( that might be from my dinner though I'm not too sure ) so anyway I am here once again, unselfishly giving away my precious ( ?? ) time to write more !! SO what am I going to write about this time eh ?? Well for those of you who haven't, I suggest reading my rant about my weekend to DC which was a few weeks back as this has references to that in it !!

Well last weekend I decided to finally do what I have been planning to do for AGES !! Finally go back to New York City !! This place is just so cool so I phoned up my friend who lives down there and we agreed and arranged to meet at the Port Authority Bus Terminal on Saturday !! I awaoke VERY early in order to catch an early bus and my 5 hour journey to the Big Apple began !! The trip was fairly uneventful, and I only got brief fleeting lashbacks to the movie " DayLight " when we drove through the Jersey Tunnel !!

So finally ( after what seemed like HOURS ) the bus arrives at the Bus Station in New York city, now I didn't know how big the place was so I hadn't arranged an actual meeting place with my friend, so what followed was about 25 minutes of aimless wandering looking for my friend, eventually I got a member of staff to put out an ( almost inaudible and illegible ) page for my friends to meet me in front of Radio Shack, and sure enough a few minutes later they came running up, and informed me that they had just arrived and heard the page and here they were !!

Then came the accomodation debate. All the hostels were booked, so we went to a hotel, called the hotel Carter, which is fairly inexpensive but then again it is far from luxiourious !! My bed was broken and it is not a very nie place, but it was somewhere to sleep so we can't complain ( much !!! ).

Now we got to the fun part, New York City. We did touristy things, like visiting Wall Street and also shopping and overall had a great weekend. We even got a few " sly " comments from passers by who saw me stood outside of a hotel with two girls, I'll let you guess what they said !! ;0)

Well as with everything, it had to end, and Sunday evening arrived and I had to set off for my bus in order to catch the last bus from Boston to my home here !! Well this would have been ok if we weren't the other side of the city with about 25 minutes till my bus left !! What followed can only be described as a scene from a poor sit-com !! We were walking rather rapidly through New York, trying desperately to hail a cab, but somehow it manages to e that EVERY cab in the city at that time already had a passenger, so we finally made it to the bus station, I was a minute early !!! Only to find out that they were delaying the bus for ten minutes, well this was fine but ten minutes later they said that they were cancelling that bus and only running the 6 o'clock bus, so by now I am panicking severly as my connection bus leave at 10:30 and is the last bus and if I miss that I am stuck 39 miles from home with no transportation, so we phone the bus companies to see if it is at all possible to delay the connecting bus. I am also having severe deja-vu about my Washington trip and wondering how one person can have so much bad luck, having things cancel on him, as if he's part of some ultimate practical joke ( paranoid ????? ). The lady informed me that it wasn't and couldn't I rent a car !! Well surely if I COULD rent a car I would have done that to begin with and I wouldn't be on the bus. Finally the bus leaves at 6:15 and begins the journey home, now it is supposed to take 4 and a half hours to get to Boston, so by now I am severly panicking and I think my annoyance showed as the seat next to me on the bus was the last to be taken by this guy who had no choice !! So the journey home, I am mad, annoyed and worried about how I can possibly get home from Boston, hitch hiking, busses close and walk etc. Then on comes the movie, called " Bogus " with Whoopi Goldberg !! That was ok, but I had never heard of it.

Now somehow, don't ask me how, we get close to Boston and the clock indicates that my deadline can be met, and indeed we get to Boston at 10:27 so I RAN to my connecting bus and relaxed !! The bus was delayed !! It waited for about 15-20 minutes, I'm not sure why, maybe my friends had phoned and persuaded the bus to wait for little old me or some other reason, but whatever it was, I was on my way home !! The journey home was uneventful, and I went to bed thankful that the bus had managed somehow to get to Boston on time, no matter how many laws he broke !! ;0)
