My Weekly Rant !!

Welcome dear traveller, sit ye down and grab a drink, no not that one, that’s mine, yes that’s better, and listen as I tell ye a tale of ugly trolls, dashing heroes and evil wizards.
OK so I have been very slack with my homepage and this is no excuse, but I have been very busy, you may believe it or not but University has suddenly become very tricky and I have come to realize that post graduate studies are *not* as easy as under graduate studies.
Now for those of you that are new or still unsure as to what I am doing still studying etc, I will try to explain. I finished my law degree; I did quite well and got a 2:1, which is good in the English grading system. However a law degree gives you qualifications for absolutely *nothing* ! No I tell a lie, a law degree gives one the knowledge of telling people stories of absurd or interesting law decisions including giving away houses and allowing a person to walk free after eating someone. But aside from this useful party trick, a law degree is almost useless.
So why do it ? Well to be a solicitor or barrister in the lovely English Isles, you need a law degree or equivalent* and then you have to study for another year. Yes this extra year costs an absolute fortune and trains you to use all these party tricks and make them useful for telling “clients” what they have done wrong. So you sit this extra year, called an LPC (what I am doing and training you to be a solicitor) or a BVC (trains you to be a barrister) and this is also almost useless.
How can this be ? Well once you have sat this year, you have to find what is called a training contract with a law firm. Unless you get one of these, your LPC is still useless. You are not qualified or anything. Yes I know this is an extremely odd state of affairs but its true.
So yeah, as the real millennium approaches, it makes you wonder. I have been so very busy doing my LPC that my homepage has been a tad ignored and I have been very slack with my Rants. And this, dear reader is my poor attempt to make it all better. I did have lots of very good ideas to write about, but I forgot them all. I know I am terrible, but it’s true.
And so I am sat at home, I have had a good Christmas despite my brother doing his best to spoil it. He has managed to blow up his car and so it is up to his big brother to drive him around, including a *fun* drive lasting over 30 minutes each way on Christmas Day to pick up his girlfriend. Hmmm.
And so now I am ready to go back to University, which starts with exams. Ahh Happy Holidays. And of course give my housemates their Christmas presents and see what lovely surprises I have got.
Anyway I think this is possibly enough rambling and ranting from me, I hope you had a great Christmas and have a Great New Year and of course, keep reading my Rants.
