WHO AM I?
September 3, 1997
I is such powerful and effective letter. The letter “I” is also an appropriate letter to use to describe oneself. The ninth letter of the modern alphabet can join other letters to assist in creating a word, or it can stand alone, creating a word in itself. A human being is created in such a way, we can assist in creating works for the benefit of society, or we can stand alone as a beacon, guiding the works of society.
WHO AM I? I am an individual, yet as an individual, I am part of society. I enjoy working with people through my leadership positions at work, in church, and in FBLA. However,“It is no loss of liberty to subordinate ourselves to a natural leader ,” this is why I do not feel inferior when I am participating- but not leading- in other activities I’m involved with such as: Senior Committee, the Operation Smile Club, and DECA. Instead, I focus on aiding the leaders and cooperating with them on accomplishing the common goals of the group. In this way, I, as an individual, create a part of society whether leading or supporting.
WHO AM I? I am a famished soul. My mind hungers for thought and my flesh thirsts for action. I satisfy them both. To my mind I bestow an education, I seek out information, processing it, and applying it. I feed my mind Newton and Michelangelo, I nourish it with Washington and Emerson. With my knowledge I create stories and ideas to structure the present and build the future. As I exercise my mind, I do not neglect my body. My sports include golf and basketball. I also enjoy any type of skiing: snow skiing, waterskiing, and jetskiing. Though I do not have a large frame, I do have a healthy frame. I perpetually deny my mind and body both alcohol and drugs because I do not require chemicals to enjoy my life. I feed my famished soul other stimulants such as athletics and learning.
WHO AM I? I am an achiever but I do not fear failure. I strive everyday to work towards goals I have set for myself. And if I fail once, I do not worry, because to succeed you only need rise one more time than you fall. I am not content to be average, being average means being as close to the top as you are to the bottom. And so I dream, I dream of being a chairman of the board in the Chrysler Corporation, I dream of establishing my own architecture firm, I dream of being President of the United States. Why can I dream
such lofty dreams? Because if I set my goals higher than others think is practical- though I may not reach those goals- my stance in life will certainly be higher than those that dream of being one of the masses. The beacon I follow leads to excellence and nothing anyone can do will obstruct that light from me.
WHO AM I? I am a human being, I am a growing youth in an expanding world. I am part of the next generation of the human race. I will use my potential to create a better society. “What do we live for, if not to make this world less difficult for each other? ” I will contribute to the world by supporting and leading. I will use my knowledge, I will attain my goals, I will command our future.
WHO AM I? I am Brian Bosworth......... WHO ARE YOU?
