MP3s are also known as MPEG Layer 3 audio files. They are highly compressed .wav files recorded in CD quality. The standard is about a megabyte per minute of sound if encoded at 128kbps and 44100Hz. They sound great and, compared to .wav files, take up little hard drive space.

They require an MP3 player, such as to play them. WinAmp is, in my opinion, the best MP3 player out. They have great plug-ins for all sorts of stuff, and skins to customize the look of your WinAmp interface.

You can find me on DALnet (using mIRC) in the #mp3friends and #mp3zcable channels. I have found this to be much faster and easier than web searches.

If you have any that you think I might like (encoded at 128 kbps and 44100 kHz preferably) after looking at my list, contact me and let me know the artist and song title. I prefer them to be in 128 kbps and 44 kHz, but as long as it sounds good, it doesn't really matter.
