My favorite place to see "My Stars" is sitting on the porch of the dining hall at our Boy Scout camp, "Camp Dale Resler" in Cloudcroft, New Mexico...maintained by Yucca Council, Boy Scouts of America.
I have found no other place in the world (that I have visited) that has such a view. For many years I worked at the camp, and nearly every night you could find me sitting on the step, watching and waiting for the show, featuring the Milky Way and falling stars. The stars are nestled high in the sky, with the tall pines swaying with the touch of breeze whistling through the needles.
Many scouts have joined me, and it seems that it's the perfect place to be after a long day. It just seems that life's problems are put into perspective there, in the vastness of the universe, our problems are only small ones, and usually can be solved with a little thought and kindness. |
