This is a friend, Byron, we met while in Italy. He is also a reservist and helped us a lot while we were there. It seems that companionship and courage travel in the same context and with such a great group we were able to explore Italy on our own and take ownership of the country.
This picture is of us climbing the stairs in the top of St. Peters' Nave. It is a small and winding series of stairs inside the top dome structure. What a climb and what a view!!!! Well worth the time and effort!!!
This was a great day!! It was one of the last we spent together as a group in Naples. We all had decided to visit the shopping district in Naples for a few last minute gifts. I was driving and thought that taking a small alley way to the top of the hill in the shopping district would save all of us a lot of walking. Boy was I crazy to think we could fit a minivan down those Italian back streets!!
It took us forever and we were stuck in third gear do to the tight spaces we were squeezing through!! We had to fold our mirrors in to prevent us from smacking them on people and other cars parked in the way! This shot was taken at the top of the little mountain when we were able to pull over. The guy on the left is Bobby. He is a postal worker in Salt Lake City and is a very funny guy. He is a great friend as long as you don't touch him!!!!!!!
