The Nissan Maxima

The Nissan Maxima is the best kept automotive secret in the industry. This “four-door sports car” has the refinement of a luxury car blended with the power of a high performance vehicle. It is no wonder that it is the flagship of the Nissan Motors fleet.
POWER
A powerful and award-winning 24-valve190hp V6 breathlessly pulls this car from 0-60 in 6.6 seconds (faster than a Mitsubishi Eclipse, Acura Integra, and a BMW Z3). The pistons within are the lightest in the world for their size and allow for excellent trottle response with less vibration. The ABS-equipped 4-wheel disc brakes make sure that the car can stop almost as quickly as it accelerates for when you see a cop. The engine-speed-sensitive steering and Multi-Link Beam suspension gives crisp handling and a comfortable ride.
PRESTIGE
Not to be outdone, the luxurious interior is as perfect as the engine that moves it around town. Standard on the car:
power mirrors, power windows, power locks,
cellular phone prewiring, dual LCD tripometers, six-speaker BOSE sound system,
cruise control, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry.
As added options you can have:
heated leather seats, heated outside mirrors, automatic temperature control,
a three-way power sunroof, and a security system to protect it all......
CHOICES
The Nissan Maxima comes in three models
The GXE is the base model, however, it is the most fully-equipped base model in its class. Genuine luxury.
The GLE is the luxury model. It comes with many of the above options as standard equipment. The automatic transmission is standard but does not hinder the Maxima’s performance by much. Ultimate luxury.
The SE is the sport model. Its standard equipment is better than the GXE and can be upgraded to equal the GLE’s. In addition, this model also has standard fog lights, spoilers, splash guards, high-performance tires, sport-tuned suspension systems, and more aggressive wheels that are not available on the other models. The manual transmission is standard and is a necessisity to enjoy the full power of the Maxima. Luxury with an atttiude.
MINE
As I’m sure you can tell, the SE is my model of choice. I love Maximas and plan to always own one. They can outperform nearly anything on the road that has a sticker price of less than $100K. And yet they have a relatively economical choice... starting at $24K and maxing out at about $32K. They have low insurance rates because most the easy-going people with the GXEs and GLEs counterbalance the extreme SE drivers. I especially enjoy the speedometer and tachometer because they shift from a black-type-on-a-white-field design in the day and then shift to white-type-on-a-black-field at night for easy reading.
My first car... and the one I drive today.... is a 1987 Maxima SE. It has everything on it, power everything, sunroof, alarm, leather-wrapped steering wheel. It’s a perfect car. I bought it in 1996 with 185000 miles on it for half of what it was worth because the guy was really desperate for college money. It now parades around with 202,000 miles on it, still blasting past all the newer cars out there, and still not burning a drop of oil. The speedometer goes up to 125 (my dad’s newer Maxima goes up to 145 ) but I’ve only gotten up to a 109 (that was when I passed the cop...he pulled me over, but I never got a ticket, *SHRUG*) so I’ll have to work at pinning the speedo some more...
I live on Snob Hill, USA and so I have plenty of nice cars to race with..... and I’ve never been beat, can’t say I’ve never tied with someone, but I’ve never been beat. Dom’s ‘67 Porsche, Brad’s ‘96 BMW, Jared’s souped-up Bronco, Leslie’s Dad’s Humvee, and Chris’s ‘92 Firebird are among the thousands of CARcasses my car has chewed up and spit out.
My car runs like a dream and has all the luxuries one could ever want but, alas, I must move on. So I plan to sell it fairly soon (for what I payed for it no less!) and use that money and then some to buy.........
THE ULTIMATE MAXIMA
The Maxima I plan to drive through college is a 1998 SE with an Arctic White Pearl Exterior and a heated Beige Leather interior. It will have literally every option available including a 300-watt 6-disc BOSE CD-player. Once it comes in I’m going to customize it with personalized plates, darkened headlights, tinted windows, a sunroof deflector, cusom wheels, a subwoofer, and a nose mask. She’s going to be sweet.........
