Yea for Lindsay! Updating more than once a month! I was quite the dumbass today. Grrrr. We're doing Word Level 2 and being the super smart person I am I asked for the assignments ahead of time so that I wasn't stuck sitting and listening to Rick blather on for 2.5 hours and just went ahead and did them. We're just learning tables, which I thought I knew pretty well....but aparently I did things the really stupid hard way that took for bloody ever, and just as I finished Rick got to explaining what I was working on and gave us all the shortcuts and special features. The stuff would have taken me a quarter of the time to do it if I'd just waited! Oh well, at least I wasn't bored. I'm supposed to be doing this extra thinger one of OUC's administrator's gave me to do when I'm bored but he's been busy and hasnt' had the time to send me all the info, so I get a little bit done then I have to wait another day before I can do any more! GGRRR! At least I have extra stuff tho, I'm thankful for that, otherwise I'd drive myself and Rick absolutly crazy. Crazy Crazy Crazy.

Winnie (our Employability/Life Skills teacher) is hopefully going to get me into tutoring! I'm prolly going to tutor one of the girls in the class 'cause she really needs the help (and she knows I have absolutly no $$) which would be cool. she doesn't want to use me too much 'cause she doesn't want to distract me or come to rely on me the way that Kathie does, but she's gotta get the assignments for Word1 finished, considering we've written the test and we're onto Word2 now.

Saturday was like the creepiest day ever! I went to Sneakers with Nelson (first mistake, lol) 'cause Martin (local band) was playing and I hadn't heard them yet. They were promoting this weird Brazillian beer and there were silly blond girls running around giving out free samples and putting fake tattoos on people. Well, Nelson and his buddies wanted the tattoo (mostly just they wanted the girls to touch them) so they put them on and I wasn't even paying attention and all of a sudden this stupid girl just sticks this tattoo on me! I'm just out smoking and the next thing I know there's a cold wet towel on my arm! Stupid girl. Then some chick tried to get me to come home with her! Crazy Crazy Crazy. No more Sneakers with Nelson!

Hello again. I know I know, I've been kinda bad about keeping up with this. There isn't a whole lot that I can tell you about. For the most part I'm rather bored all the time. We did "Basic Office Procedures" where basically we sat around while the teacher blathered on for HOURS about the boringest crap she could think of. Talk about being easily distracted! I'm sitting in class right now, we're doing a review of Word Level 1 before the test we're doing today. Rick (teacher) said yesterday that I could have taught the class, which is nice to hear, but yeah.....very frustrating to have paid $5000 to be here and sit and play computer solitaire for hours. The computers here have MSN on them, but no one's ever online! Come on guys, be on during the day!!!

On a good note, Rick has seen how bored I've been and he talked to the course administrator about it, and they're making up stuff for me to do. Starting today I'm making a PowerPoint presentation for the administrators of Continuing Ed to take to groups and show! A little stressful, knowing that I'm doing this project that all kinds of people are going to see, but hey, at least I'm being challenged! I sit all day going "please challenge me!" "stimulate me!" Poor Rick...I think I drive him a little bit batty. Pat (our Internet Fundamentals *snore* teacher) enjoyed having someone knowledgable around, 'cause it was a challenge for her to challenge me. I only managed to get 96% on the test (stupid fucking CERT, if you don't know what it is DON'T ASK ME TO EXPLAIN IT TO YOU). Oh well. We just got our marks back from Madeline for the Basic Office stuff.......only 89%. Grrrrrrrrr. I want to know what I got on the stuff from Communications but Cheryl hasn't marked it yet! AAAHHH!

So happy to be done Word Level 1 and Basic Office Procedures. Word was just a snore 'cause well, I did all this only 4 years ago in Grade 12 and I didn't really need that much of a refresher. BOP was annoying 'cause Madeline (teacher) would just stand at the front of the class and go on and on and on, and THEN on the test there would be questions she hadn't even talked about! Stupid woman. She claims that she read the test (didnt' make it up herself) but obviously not! GRRRRR.

Kathie (one of my classmates) drives me up the freakin wall. I like her and all, she's great, but no matter how many times I answer the same question over and over again she never seems to remember the answer! Sometimes I really wonder if she's really meant to work in an office, I think she may be in over her head. Everyone in the class is super tho.....I've become the person to come and ask when they don't know how to do stuff, most of them will even bypass asking the teacher and just ask me! Mike is super fun, he works at the Blue Heron now so on the weekend he calls me and tells me to come down and have a drink. He makes yummy yummy melon liquor margaritas! Mike working at a pub could get rather expensive for me, lol. Doesn't hurt that he's a hottie too ;).

Wow, I actually made a decent post! Yea for Lindsay! I'm going to try harder to actually update this more often, I promise! At least once a week from now on! My inbox is empty....email me!

AARRGGGG, what a frustrating week this has been! 3 days of classes I could TEACH are making my mind go numb. We just finished 2 and a half days of Keyboarding *snore* (I type at least 85 WPM) and ‘Computer Fundamentals’. Basically, a computer has this kind of hardware, software, this is how you click on something in windows….blah blah blah. I seriously zoned out for like half an hour yesterday and didn’t miss anything! In 3 days (including the new stuff we started today) I’ve learned one tiny insignificant totally don’t need to know kind of thing. Rick was all happy tho, he hears me go “oh!” and comes over, “Did I finally teach you something” and I say “yes!” I’ve never seen someone so happy about such a tiny thing. Our teacher is really great, and understands why I zoned out, but AARRRGGG! We did a test this afternoon, I got 100% (big surprise), only the second person to do it……is this really that hard? At the end of the keyboarding hour this morning Rick gave us a memo to type up, said everyone had till I got done………took me all of 2 minutes, no one was very impressed with me. Then Rick explains that it’s not something that has to be handed in or anything, I’m getting annoyed with assignments that don’t need to be handed in or even checked….grade me! Please! At least now I don’t have to deal with having the half-naked sweaty guy out working in the courtyard outside our classroom like I did in the last one, SO distracting!

We started Word Level 1 this afternoon. “This is Microsoft Word, this is how you type in Word, this is how you save a file"..*brain slowly turning to mush*. I asked the program administrator if I could challenge the test that comes at the end of the course, but I just spent almost 5 grand to take this course, not to write a couple of tests. Seems like a bit of a waste of money. So Rick (the teacher) is prolly going to make up special assignments for me to do, possibly including making power point presentations and using them to teach part of the class. That’ll be a real challenge, considering I still have to guide Kathy through SAVING DOCUMENTS! *Shutters*

Well, I guess that’s about all for today, other than work was a huge piss off. I didn’t want to be there in the first place and everyone decided to ‘help’ which basically meant ‘lets get in Lindsay’s way and piss her off!’ I’m gonna go bang my head on a wall for a while.

*A week ago, can't really remember the date....lol*
Hi! Welcome to my weblog! I'm having a hard time keeping up with emails right now 'cause I just started school so I'm trying to get myself into a schedule that works for me, as it is right now I’m not even getting at checking my email until 10:00 at night. So if you email me, and I don’t get back to you right away, I’m sorry, I’m just really busy right now. And if you’re wondering why this is here and not at my main page, I wasn’t sure if the group would be comfortable with me talking about what goes on in class if they end up going to my page I don’t want to upset anyone. It’s not like I’m going to be putting personal information about them on here, but I’d like to avoid a sticky situation.

As for school, it’s so amazing. I can’t believe that I waited so long to go back! We’re doing ‘Life skills/Employability skills’ right now, which I was kind of unsure about before we started, and now I’m going to be sad that we’re finished with it tomorrow! Well, we’ll doing like 3 hours every week on it, but still, nothing beats sitting in a circle with a really upbeat and diverse group of people ALL DAY. It’s such a great way to start this course, because we’re getting to know each other so well and I think it’s really going to benefit us so much in the long run ‘cause we’ll already have the established relationship with everyone, not just be sitting in a computer room all day not really getting to know each other.

I don’t mean to gush, but REALLY! Our group is amazing! It’s so wonderful to see 6 people with a large age range (I’m the youngest at 21 and it goes up to somewhere in their late 30’s early 40’s) with completely different backgrounds (only 2 of us have lived in Vernon our whole lives, everyone else has only been here for a year or less) getting along so well! It’s weird, I keep expecting something to happen to change it, make it not so good, but it hasn’t! We did a exercise today where we all filled out a ‘wilderness survival quiz’ type thing separately then all got together to reach a group consensus about which answer was right. It was amazing to sit with everyone and try to come to a mutual decision about the answers, ‘cause with most of them we picked different ones and had to figure out how to decide who was right. Everyone listened to the reasons why we thought we had the right answer, no one got defensive or angry when they were disagreed with. I’m so not used to that! I’m generally, uh, pushy when I don’t get my way, angry when I’m told that I’m not right, but no one said “you’re wrong” it was more “true, but this is what I think”, you’d be AMAZED at how much better that goes over! At first when our teacher started talking about stuff like assertive script and stuff like that, I thought it was kinda silly, but now I can see how helpful this stuff is already and I’m so happy that I’m doing this! Bliss! I love that word, such a great word, bliss. Here’s a couple of things that made me pee myself laughing that I feel the need to share like crazy :)
