Premise: Those Hollywood white picket
fences of the mind's eye held up for scrutiny. (yet again) This film WILL
be one of the best you will see all year, I'm not the first to say this and
I won't be the last. But I cannot give it any better praise.
Kevin Spacey's life is a prison. He lives for his loving family, beautiful
real estate selling wife and his angst ridden teenage Daughter. When his Job
is goes through re organisation and he looses out, he cracks and changes his
life. All kinds of results ensue from this upheaval, mostly his family breaking
apart. This results in…to tell you the plot would negate the need to see it,
and then would you ever question your every day choices again. Which is the
very smartly put point of this film. Go, buy a ticket, watch it, you deserve
it.
Summary: If you have to sell your granny
to see this, do not hesitate for a second.
It's a deft examination of identity and the consequences of self-importance
and isolation within contemporary American society. But more than this, it's
a cutting critique of Hollywood's portrayal of American white picket life
in the films of the 90's and they way Cinema audiences see these stereotyped
character traits. Its glorious.
Pros:
The acting, the casting, the script, the direction, everything.
Cons:
Absolutely none what so ever
