Mover and Shaker My crush invited me to the homecoming dance. We were having a nice time, and everyone thought he was really cool. When we started dancing, he asked me if I wanted to see his "moves." I had no idea what he was talking about, but I said okay. All of a sudden, he started break-dancing! I mean, he did the whole thing-running in place, waxing the floor with his butt-everything! I was so humiliated. The only thing I could do was look away while everyone else gawked. Wrist Action At the fall fling dance I had slow-danced with only one person all night. So I decided to do what my best bud does when she wants a guy to dance with her: She grabs him by the wrist, pulls him onto the floor and says, "Let's dance!" It hadn't failed her once, and I figured that if it worked for her, it could work for me. I spotted this hot guy sitting backward in the bleachers, so I grabbed him by the wrist and attempted to pull him to his feet. Unfortunately I pulled too hard, and he fell on his back! I felt so bad that I wanted to run away from the whole thing. But he was nice enough to get up and dance with me, anyway. Sunroof Shower Last year I went to the prom with this really hot junior. I spent all day at the salon getting my hair and nails done, and I looked so good! That night my guy had rented a limo (it was a first!) for us and another couple. My crush and his friend opened the sun roof-but then it started to rain. I told them to close it, but my guy wouldn't listen-so I stood up to do it myself. Just then, a downpour started! My dress got totally drenched and my hair was a mess. When we got to prom, everybody was staring. I think I'll never live it down. Costume Catastrophe My date for the fall dance was this really cute guy whom I'd been admiring since my freshman year. The night before the bash, he called and asked me to meet him at the dance-as a student body officer, he had to get there early to make sure everything went smoothly. Before we got off the phone, he said that the dance theme had been changed and it was now a costume ball. I had to run out and search every costume shop in town for the right outfit. I finally found the perfect thing-a Cinderella ensemble (pre-fairy godmother). But when I got to the dance, everyone was gaping at me! Then I noticed that they were all dressed formally as "originally" planned. My date came over, took one good look at my costume and nearly died laughing. I went home and changed, but nobody will let me forget it. Slow-Dance Sleeper Though I was exhausted and feeling sick, it didn't stop me from going to my school's semiformal. Near the end of the night, I got up the nerve to ask my crush to dance. To my surprise, he said yes. We started dancing, and I leaned my head on his shoulder, closed my eyes...and fell asleep. When I finally woke up, the song was long over and my crush was desperately trying to shake me awake. Startled, I jumped back and saw that I had left a huge puddle of drool right on his shoulder! I was so embarrassed. To this day my buds call me Droolie. Slippery Situation It was the first dance at school and I was totally bummed because I had a broken leg. So I had to sit alone in my cast, by my crutches, most of the time. In the middle of the dance, I got up to get some soda. I left my crutched on the bleachers and started hobbling toward the refreshments. All of a sudden, I slipped and fell on some spilled soda. Because I screamed really loudly, everyone noticed, including the DJ. If that wasn't bad enough, the DJ pointed at me and said, "Let's do that dance." So the dancers started slipping and falling like me! Blown Cover A bunch of friends and I were at the Valentine's Day dance when one of them asked me if I'd like to dance with my crush-object. Of course I said yes, but I told my friend to keep quiet. All of a sudden, my would-be boyfriend walked up and asked us what we were talking about. Before I could stop him our so-called mutual friend told the guy that I had the total hots for him! My crush turned red and walked away, leaving me standing there with my friends and their dates. I felt like such a loser. Faulty Footwear My friends had told me how great I looked in my prom outfit: a to-die for long skirt and the most styling shirt ever. I had even found the perfect platforms, although I hadn't quite mastered the technique of dancing in them. The night was going great and my friends and I were groovin' to the beat when my favorite song came on. I raced to the dance floor to show everyone my moves. Just as I was really getting into it, I stepped on the bottom of my long skirt and crashed at my crush's feet. He tried to help me up. but I was totally mortified. Square in a Circle I was at a teen club where people "rave," which is when one person dances in the middle of a circle while everyone else watches. (I don't know how to do it.) I was dancing with this really hot guy I'd just met when he pushed me into the middle of the circle. I was in shock and didn't know what to do, so I just froze. Everyone started yelling at me to move and then someone pushed me out of the circle. That hot guy didn't even look at me for the rest of the night. I've never gone back to the club!
