The next day, Karine drove over to Nick and Tara's house early in the morning.
*DING DONG* went the doorbell.
Nick woke up, rubbing his eyes to open them up. Nick looked down at Tara who was beside him, still asleep. A smile came across Nicks face, and then he put on a shirt and went downstairs.
"Hey, Karine" Nick said tired, then he let out a yawn. "Whats up?"
"Nick!! Can I please see Tara!! I really need to talk to her!" Karine said sadly. Nick could tell Karine was sad, so he let her in and sat her down. "I'll be right back" Nick said, and then he went upstairs and woke up Tara.
"mmmm what is it" Tara said, half asleep.
"Karines here, hun! She looks quite upset!" Nick said.
Tara sat up and then woke up right away.
"Is something wrong with her and AJ?" Nick asked.
"Yeah, I think soo.." Tara replied. Nick gave Tara a good morning hug, and while doing so, he felt the baby kick.
"It kicked!!!" Nick said excitingly, and then both of them smiled and kissed. Tara went downstairs and sat on the couch with Karine.
"hey Karine.. how did it go?" Tara asked.
"Tara.. it was the most horrible night of my life!!!" Karine said and then she started to cry.
"what happened???" Tara asked comfortingly.
"AJ came home, and he asked me waht was wrong, so I told him that I am pregnant.. and then he went totally crazy!! CRAZY, Tara! I mean, he started yelling at me, blaming me for getting pregnant.. and then... and then he suggested that I get an abortion!" Karine said.
"WHAT?!? are you kidding me??" Tara screamed out.
"No! Im totally serious! SO of course I told him NO WAY! And then, we fought, and i went upstairs and started packing, and then he ran out of the house." Karine said, and then she cried.
"Oh my God, karine!!!" Tara said, hugging Karine while she was crying. "I cant believe he did that to you!!"
"Im soo scared, Tara! I love this baby already, but I dont think I can raise it by myself, I dont think I can!!!" Karine said crying.
"We'll be here for you, Karine! And soo will all your other friends, and your family!! And what are you talking about? You'll be a great mom!!" Tara said. Karine and Tara sat on the couch for the next while, while Tara listened to Karine, and tried to help her out.
Over the next two months, Karine kept herself busy with Mystery, and tried to stay healthy and in good mood for the baby. AJ broke completely off with Karine, and hardly talked to her at all. If Mystery and BSB were both at a party, AJ wouldnt even give her the time of day. Karine got used to AJ treating her like this, and as much as it hurt her, she grew stronger without him, and became more positive about the baby.
Over the next two months, Karine spent alot of time with Tara and Nick, while AJ was having a hard time dealing with all of his problems. AJ got into the habit of drinking too much, and came home many a time drunk. AJ showed up for a few BSB performances drunk also, which made Lou very angry and AJ was not allowed on stage. AJ's drinking problem was kept quiet, no one knew about it except BSB and Lou, and AJ's mom. Nick thought that Karine should know about AJ's problem, since he is the father of Karines baby. One day while Karine was over at their house, Nick approached Karine, while Tara was in the bathroom.
"Karine, there is something I have to tell you!" Nick said to Karine.
"What is it, Nick?" K asked.
"well.. its about AJ.." Nick said. Karine's face was expressionless, she didnt like to talk about AJ.
"What is it?" Karine asked.
"Well, he has this really bad drinking problem, Karine! Ever since he found you that you were pregnant, and since you two broke up, hes had this horrible drinking problem. It has become soo bad that he has showed up for performances drunk, and Lou had to make him not perform, telling the crowd he was feeling sick. Hes been doing it every night! A few times, me and the other guys would go over to his house, and hed be out of it! Completely blasted!" Nick said, worried about his friend.
"Theres nothing I can do, Nick!" Karine said "That is his problem! He has the choice to drink or not, yet he chose to do it" Karine said.
"But its really ruining his life, Karine! If he keeps it up.. he might get kicked out of the Backstreet Boys.." Nick said, and then he frowned. Karine frowned also.
"Im sorry to hear that, Nick. I hope it wouldnt come to that point, but there is nothing I can do. All we can do, is hope that he realizes hes ruining his life!" karine said.
"Yeah, I know. He really needs some help. but Karine, I really suggest you stay away from him. Since you two broke up, you guys have like, bitter feelings towards eachother, and if hes drunk, I wouldnt want him to hurt you" Nick said caringly.
"awww, thanks Nick! Dont worry, I'll keep an eye out" Karine said.
It is now April 15, and Karine is three months pregnant. Tara is eight and a half months pregnant, and fully grown. Tara was due in two weeks, and both her and Nick were very anxious!!
Tara and Karine spent alot of time together going to family clinics, and learning about how to take care of a baby. They also spent alot of time together fulfilling their food cravings, which brought the girls even closer.
Nick walked in the room, and saw Tara and Karine sitting on the couch, watching South Park, laughing their heads off, while eating a big thing of ice cream and some cake.
"Dont you girls feel sick??" Nick asked, looking at all the goodies surrounding the girls.
"Never!" Karine said, taking a spoonful of ice cream.
"Its all good!" Tara said, and then she ate some cake. Nick walked around the couch and pulled Tara up.
"Im going to work now!" Nick said.
"awww!! When are you going to be home?" Tara asked.
"Later tonight, probably at like, 11! We have an interview to do, and then we have a concert in Orlando" Nick said. "I Love you!!!" Nick said and then he gave Tara a kiss.
"I'm going to miss you! ANd I love you too, hunny!!" Tara said and then she kissed Nick. Nick gave Tara a huge hug, and then patted her stomach.
"I'll see you both later tonight! Wait up for me!! I want to spend some time with you when I get home!" Nick said, and then he went out the door.
That evening, Tara and Karine ordered pizza, and then just stayed at Taras house, watching videos. At around 7pm, Tara started to not feel good.
"something wrong, Tara?" Karine asked.
"I have a stomach ache! Probably from all the junk food we ate today.." Tara said.
"Yeah, probably!" Karine said.
At about 8pm, Tara stood up to get a glass of milk, when she felt a little pain. "oww!!" Tara said, as she hunched over a bit in pain. Karine stood up and ran over to Tara.
"Tara, are you alright??" Karine asked.
"I felt this really weird pain!!" Tara said, and then another one hit her again, making her scream. At that moment, Tara's water broke, which let her know for sure she was going into early labor. Karine rushed Tara in her car and then quickly drove her to the hospital. When they arrived there, Dr Timberlake took Tara into a hospital room, where Karine waited with her until Nick arrived.
"Hello?" Lou said as he answered Nicks cell phone. Backstreet Boys were already on stage, and have been for about half an hour. Nick just went on stage to perform his solo, Heaven In your Eyes.
"Hello is Nick Carter there please?" the nurse asked.
"WHo is this?" Lou asked.
"This is Tampa Bay Hospital calling, I need to speak with Nick Carter, its about his wife" The nurse asked.
"Im sorry, hes on stage right now, can I take a message please?" Lou asked kindly.
"This is really important sir, can you please tell him that his wife is in the hospital, shes in labor" the nurse said. Lou hung up the phone, and then motioned for Nick to come off stage. Only halfway through his song, Nick stopped singing, noticing that he was being called off stage. Nick ran backstage, where Lou was waiting to speak with him.
"Whats Up? Why did I have to leave?" Nick asked curiously.
"Nick, its Tara! Shes going into Labor.. shes at Tampa Bay Hospital.." Lou said, and without finishing, Nick ran off, jumped in his limo, and went to the hospital.
