![]() ![]() What is sex? Sex means gender, which refers to whether something or someone is male or female. Why is sex such a taboo word? In today's modern and enlightened society (hereafter referred to as today's M&E society), all beings being equal, it's not polite (in fact, it's downright rude) to point out someone has sex (ie. is male or female). Thus to avoid being offensive, people seldom discuss sex in public, especially in front of minors. We wouldn't DREAM of bringing up our children to be bigots, now would we? Why is sex such a big deal? It isn't. Trust me. In today's M&E society, sex doesn't matter! You can do whatever you want regardless of your sex because of a wonderful concept called "equal opportunity". What's this "equal opportunity" thing and does homosexuality have anything to do with it? "Equal opportunity" simply means that everyone has the same chance (y'know... EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES) to do anything. Like duhhhhhhhhhh... And no. Homosexuality has nothing to do with "equal opportunity. It's another concept altogether. Well, then what IS homosexuality? It's really simple. Homo, in some funny ancient and archaic language, means same or similar. Sexuality is of course what sex a person is. Therefore, homosexuality just means people of the same sex. Umm... if that's what homosexuality really means, then why is it another taboo word? Isn't it obvious? Sex doesn't matter anymore, so it's not polite to mention a group of people are homosexual (ie. are of the same sex). Okay. Then what's with this "gay" and "lesbian" thing? "Gay" refers to male homosexuals and "lesbian" refers to female homosexuals, but you don't need to know that because sex doesn't matter in today's M&E society. Wow. So what was life like before our M&E society? People had sex. Really. Honest. Trust me. That must have been horrible. How did people deal with it? Well, back then, only adults were supposed to have sex. This protected the children from having to deal with such dangerous and important matters like sex. Gender can be a very touchy issue sometimes. Hmm... so does "adult content" have anything to do with sex? Nothing whatsoever. Don't be silly. "Adult content" refers to real life grown-up things, such as the law, taxes and the omnipotent IRS. It's all quite scary, which is why we shield children from it. PS: I gave up thinking of silly Q&A by this time, so that's all there is to it. This page was created and is maintained by Nathanael Lin. |   |
