A dream voyage to the paradise! The Backstreet Boys spend one
week relaxing on
the island of Maui Hawaii. This is an exclusive report for BRAVO.
There is no one on the beach and palm trees are found on the side
of the Hawaii beach. It's a really
hot day with a temperature of about 36 C even in the shade! Somewhere
in the Pacific Ocean Nick,
AJ, B-Rok. Kevin and Howie are playing like little kids with their
Boogie-Boards on the beach.
Kevin is now jumping on Nick, grabbing him and throwing him into
the water! After 11 busy
months the BSB are relaxed and free...
"That island is a real paradise!" says Nick "I am an Aquarius
so I've always felt very close to the
ocean!" After the very long and tiring German tour and some recording
work in Orlando the BSB
are in Hawaii for 8 days to relax and spend time in the sun. They
are staying in the "Maui Marriott
Hotel", which is very near to the beach.
"The first two days we suntanned" says B-Rok "but now we're in
need some more action. We
have been swimming, surfing and playing different sports."
And Kevin who has brought his buddy Trey D. along says "We finally
have time for our first
holiday after almost a year - and we do that TOGETHER!!! Only
because we are real good friends
and because it's loads more fun to do that all together!"
The other boys do not go directly into the sun, but Kevin goes
for great long beach walks and
spends the whole time on the beach for hours - and he has gotten
a BIG sunburn on his neck after 2
days!
Nick, who brought his brother Aaron, his sister Bobbie and his
mom Jane with him bought on the
first day a great souvenir: a big crucifix cross with an anchor.
"That cross can protect all the people
on the oceans" he explains "It´s now my most loved piece!" Nick
now has his driving licence "I got
my licence on the 24th of April in Tampa/FL and I did buy myself
a green jeep on the same day!"
AJ, who is with his mom Denise here, has shaved his head in Orlando
one day before the boys left
for Hawaii. "It´s very practical when you go swimming" he says,
with a big smile and he touches
himself on his head where the hair is now about 2 mm long.
B-Rok and Kevin also surprised everybody with their new hairstyles:
B-Rok's hair is now dyed red
and Kevin has cut his hair short.
On the third day the boys did something together with the 6th
BSB, Aaron!! A beach party: they all
wore shorts and colorful Hawai T-Shirts and had flowers all over
their body and head. "We had so
much fun" laughs Howie," me and the guys sang a few songs with
the ukulele to Aaron!" There
were also 2 hula dancers called Laui and Tempa at the beach party.
"That´s the way that I thought
Hawai would be!" says B-Rok "only that we couldn't do the hula
dance well!!!"
After this short holiday, the BSB will fly back to Orlando to
finish their 2nd album. It will be
released in September. "We are not sure which song we´ll bring
out in Europe as the new single
first" says Kevin "There are "Backstreet´s Back" amd "That´s the
way I like it" which are very fast
songs, or the song " All I have to give, which is an R&B song.
At the open air tour in the summer, which will start on August
22 in Hannover, the boys will have
six new songs in their program. AJ: "We will also have a totally
new danceshow which we are
preparing right now with our choreographer Fatima."
In the end of May the BSB goes back to Germany to do the Hand-in
Hand Concert Charity '97 in
Oberhausen. In mid June the boys will have some gigs in England,
where they will be in
performing at Wembley arena in London twice. In July there will
be a few gigs in America and after
the open air shows in Germany the boys will have an Asian Tour.
"We plan to come back to Germany in Christmas time" says B-Rok.
And Nick says: "At the
beginning of 1998 we will start our world tour. Therefore we will
enjoy the few days here on
Hawaii, because the next 12 months there will be no time for a
holiday!" Nick is jumping out of his
seat, grabs his surfboard and shouts to the others: "Come on boys!
Lets go bogie-boarding!" None
of the guys waited a second and everybody is running to the great
blue ocean.
