The four boys and the four girls walked through the crowd at the beach. MTV was there, videotaping the Spring Break special which was being held in the Dominican for that year.
98 Degrees was on the stage, singing their hit song, THE HARDEST THING.
"They are sooo cute" Laura said, staring at the group of four singing on the stage.
"I know.. I like Drew... hes got that babyface" Tara said. Nick grabbed her hand and started talking to Brian, who was standing beside him.
"And look who we have here... its the BACKSTREET BOYS!" a reporter shouted, making his way over to Brian, Kevin, Nick and AJ.
"Hello guys, would you mind doing a quick interview?" the man asked.
"Sure.. anything for the fans" Brian replied. Tara, Mar, Karine and Laura moved away to the side behind the cameraman so that they weren't on the film.
"SO Boys, what are you doing here in the Dominican?"
"We came here for Spring Break, like everyone else" Kevin replied.
"There seems to only be four of you, where is Howie Dorough?"
"Howie had to stay back at home, had a personal situation that he was going through" Kevin replied.
"How is your vacation going so far? What do you think of the Dominican?"
"The vacation has been really great so far. This island is a beautiful place, and very romantic.." AJ said with a grin.
"Very romantic you say? Are you boys here with some special ladies??" The man asked with a grin. He held the microphone over to Nick.
"Yes we are! My girlfriend Tara is here, AJ's fiance Karine is here, and then two of our friends, Marie and Laura are here also"
"Marie and Laura are Kevin and Brians girls?" The reporter rudely asked.
"Marie and I are kind of together" Kevin replied.
"Laura and I are just friends.. good friends" Brian said. He looked over at Laura and smiled.
Laura caught Brians smile and it made her smile back at him.
"Well thanks for the quick interview guys.. we'll see you soon! Enjoy the rest of your vacation!" The man said, then he took his camera elsewhere.
"Nice answers boys" Marie said. She slipped her arm through Kevins.
"Want to go get a drink?" AJ asked.
"Sure" everyone replied in unison.
At the bar, the boys baught drinks for their girls.
"I'll have a milkshake.." Tara said to Nick, right after he asked her what she wanted.
"A milkshake? Tara, we're on spring break.. you can have a real drink.."
"I know.. but.. I dont really want one right now, Im in the mood for a milkshake" Tara replied. She hadnt told Nick about the baby yet, and she knew that pregnant women shouldnt drink.
"Alright... I'll have a milkshake too then.."
"No Nick.. if you want to have a drink, have one" Tara said.
"No, I dont want you to feel left out! I like milkshakes anyways" Nick said. He went over to the counter and ordered two shakes, vanilla for Tara, and chocolate for him.
"Have you told Nick yet?" Laura asked, watching Nick and Brian at the bar.
"No, I'm planning on telling him tonight, back at the hotel.. I have a nice romantic night planned out.. and a cool way of telling him" Tara said.
"nervous?"
"A bit... I think Nick thinks something is up, he thought it was weird I ordered a milkshake" Tara said with a laugh.
"Im sure he thought nothing of it. He probably thinks your just not in the mood for a real drink"
"Probably! Hopefully.." Tara said.
Nick and Brian came back with their drinks and gave them to the girls.
"Hey Nick, after we're done our drinks, do you think we could go back to the hotel?" Tara asked. She looked up into Nicks blue eyes.
"Sure.. you're not feeling good?" Nick worried.
"No, Im feeling fine.. I just want to go back to the hotel.." Tara said. Nick grinned and nodded.
"I LOVE this song!" Laura said, as I WANT IT THAT WAY came over the loud speakers.
Brian laughed hearing his own voice play over the large system.
"Would you like to dance, Laura?" He asked.
"Id love to" Laura smiled at Brian. He grabbed her hand and led her out onto the dancefloor, and took her into his arms, dancing slowly with her.
Nick and Tara went back to the hotel where they were staying and entered their room. Nick shut the door behind him, and turned on the lights since the room was in pitch blackness.
"Stay here.." Tara said firmly, but playfully. Nick grinned and took a seat on the couch, and turned on the stereo.
Tara went into the bedroom and shut the door behind her. She searched through her suitcase for the new nightgown that she bought before they left on vacation, and quickly changed into it. She stood infront of the large mirror, fixed her hair and made herself look nice for Nick. She grabbed the envelope on the counter, which she had got for Nick, and headed out into the living room of their suite.
Hearing her footsteps, Nick stood up and turned around to face Tara. His eyes widened as he saw the 5'3 girl infront of him, dressed in a long silky dark green laungerie. He closed his mouth as Tara walked over to him.
"You look beautiful.." Nick said, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"Thank you... " Tara said "I have a surprise for you though, which is the reason I wanted to come back to the hotel" Tara said. She walked over and grabbed the lighter, and started lighting the candles around the room that she had set out before they left for the MTV party. She turned off the lights so that only the glow of the candles filled the room.
"We've been together now for almost a year.. our one year anniversary is coming up next month.." Tara said. Their one year anniversary was in May.
"This past year has been the best year in my life.. and I have never loved anyone like I love you" she continued.
"Its been the best year of my life too, Tara.. Im soo lucky to have you.." Nick said.
"Im the lucky one, Nick. I was soo stupid last year, when I didnt choose you right away, Im so glad that you took me back when I realized who I really loved.."
"I love you" Nick said.
"I love you too... and because of our love... I have some news I want to share with you.." Tara said. She held out the envelope in her hand, and placed it in Nicks hand.
Nick looked down at the white envelope that had his name on it. He opened the paper up and pulled out the card.
Happy Fathers Day The front of the card read. He looked up at Tara mysteriously.
He opened up the card to read the inside.
You're probably thinking 'Fathers Day? but Im not a father'. Even though Fathers day is two months away, I thought Id get you a card since in 6 months, we'll be having a little Carter of our own. I'm pregnant!
Nicks eyes started to water as he read the card. He looked up at Tara, into her eyes.
"Your... you're pregnant??" Nick asked shocked.
"Three months pregnant" Tara assured Nick.
The expression on Nicks face turned into complete joy as he heard Tara's reply. He ran over to her and picked her up, kissing her crazily.
"Im going to be a dad???" Nick said, tears starting to form in the corners of his eyes.
"and Im going to be a mom" Tara replied back. She wiped the tears away as they started to go down his cheeks.
"This is the best news ever!!!!! I love you soo much, Tara!!!!" Nick said, pulling her close to him and giving her a large hug.
"I love you too, Nick!!" Tara replied, closing her eyes while listening to Nick's shouts of happiness.
"We're going to have a baby together!" Nick said, still in shock. He was soo happy!
"Want to know something really cool also?" Tara said.
"Sure! what is it?? There's more?"
"Well.. yeah! The day of conception.. was.. January 28... your birthday!" Tara said with a grin.
"I knew there was something magical about that night.. I just knew it!" Nick replied excitedly. He leaned down and gave Tara a long kiss on the lips.
Nick released from the kiss and stood back.
"Stay here.. I have a surprise for you now.." Nick said. He ran into the bedroom and grabbed the little ring box. Little did Tara know, Nick had planned on asking her to marry him sometime during Spring Break.
Nick came back into the living room, and returned over to Tara.
"Since its a night of surprises, I had a surprise planned out for you also, and what better time would it be than to surprise you with it right now.." Nick said. He bent down and got on one knee, grabbing her one hand.
"Oh my..." Tara said raising her free hand to her mouth, guessing what Nick was about to do.
"Tara Byng... the love of my life... I've loved you from the moment I saw you. It took me awhile to get you, but it was well worth the fight. I'd do it all again if I had to. I cant picture my life without you in it! You make me soo happy, and I love being with you. I love you more than life itself... will you marry me?"
He opened up the little ring box to reveal a small golden band with a nice sized diamond on it.
He looked up at Tara eagerly and happily, hoping she would say yes.
Tara took her hand away from her mouth as she looked at Nick, tears now streaming down her cheeks.
"Yes... I'll marry you!" Tara said. Nick wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly, letting her tears flow down onto his shoulder.
After she released from his neck, he took the ring out of the case, and placed it on her left hand.
He kissed her finger where the ring was placed, and then moved his lips up to her mouth.
"You've made me the happiest man on this earth" he said, leaning down to give her a kiss.
Nick picked up Tara into his arms, and carried her into the bedroom.
He placed her standing up on the floor of the bedroom, beside the bed.
Nick ran his hands along the silk material of the nightgown, down Tara's sides, then back up her leg. He lifted the nightgown above her head, and off her body. He placed it on the chair of the desk.
Nick kneeled down to get a better look at Tara's stomach, and placed his two hands softly on it, gently massaging her lower stomach where the baby would be.
"Do you think its a little girl? or a little boy?" Nick asked, kissing her stomach.
"I dont know, I'd be happy with either" Tara replied with a smile. She looked down at the top of his blonde head.
"When we get back to Florida, I have an appointment with the doctor. Since im three months along, we can find out the sex of the baby if we want to know"
"I want to know!" Nick said excited "Do you?"
"Yeah, I do.. I think it would be better to know, so we can prepare for him, or her" Tara replied. Nick smiled up at her, and kissed her stomach again.
He stood back up to look down at Tara, who was playing with the buttons on his shirt.
Nick helped Tara unbutton his shirt, and while he took it off, she unbuttoned his khaki cargo pants, and dropped them to the floor, revealing his Backstreet Boxers.
As Nick pulled her against him, she could feel his manhood against her and she could tell that he was definetly in the mood.
She slipped her hands underneath the elastic of his boxers, playing with him, which she knew would drive him crazy.
Nick moaned while Tara was having her fun with him, enjoying every moment of what she was doing.
Nick grabbed the top of his boxers and pushed them down so they would drop to the floor.
Tara highered her hands to his waist and pulled him to her, leaning up to give him a kiss. Nick slowly and carefully walked with her over to the bed, gently laying her ontop the bed, being as careful as ever now that he knew she was pregnant.
"You're soo beautiful" Nick said, stroking her face softly with his fingers.
"You're soo wonderful" Tara replied, playing with his hair.
He gazed his eyes into hers and smiled softly. He was ontop of her now, looking down at her.
His lowered his kissable lips down onto hers, pressing on them softly, moving his body to get into position.
He started to make love to Tara, and they continued to do so for the next hour, taking their time with one another and enjoying one another.
