From
the Club House
It's been a busy month for
all on the home front. Those in the Northern Hemisphere dealing with winter
and snow, and the lucky beggars in the south applying sunscreen.
Add to that everybody getting ready from Christmas and the new year...
December is a pretty busy time.
We have some new stuff in
the newsletter this month. A chatters home town feature and a Celebrity
interview. This month it's Dailas home town and our resident celebrity
is Esa. Everything you always wanted to know!
Our Home page has been rebuilt
and can be found at NZ
Chat Home
New Years Eve Chat
An informal chat date will
take place at various times over the New Year's Eve Period. So if
you'd like to chat with those in the last or the next century this will
be your only chance for the next 100 years. Many of our members will
be online to wish all of their international friends a Happy New Millenium,
so log in and be part of the fun.
We hope your Christmas was
wonderful and that you have a safe and fun New Year

Who's
Doing What
Daila aka fillyd_2000 was knocked off her
computer for awhile. No, not the dreaded computer meltdown but a cold
bug. Hmmm makes you wonder if Y2K virus is about
the computer or is it really a cold virus which is spreading around from
human to human.
Maggie met Kimball for Lunch a week
before Christmas, He says he had a great time, she says he's a nice guy,...(even
if he is a pom *g*)
SB Hawaiian spent a short time in Manilla
at the begining of the month. He and the Reserves sure get around the world!!!
Poor Les struggled with a terrible and embarrassing
incident earlier in the month. He's now busy researching the various
meanings of a variety of words throughout the world. We're eagerly
awaiting his new book tentatively titled "Fanny Pinching"
Please make sure you welcome our new members. Bolie,
Keith49b (aka Keith 144) and Jain
Quaton has this to say .. Just
to enlighten you all of our NYE celebrations........ Deb and I will be
down at the South Perth foreshore on a (hopefully) quiet jetty with deckchairs
in place alongwith a nice bottle of Moet & chilled glasses, prawns,
oysters, choc-coated strawberries and any other delights that we haven't
yet thought about against a magnificent backdrop of Perth city watching
the world go mad around midnight!!!
Then there are about 4 parties to go to afterwards.....looks
like breakfast at Tiffanys!!!!!
It will be interesting as we are in the middle of
a heatwave as the temps are in the 8th day above 35C and dipping to around
21C at night......and there is no end to it in sight!!!!!!???????? Ten
showers and swims a day seem to be the norm.
Will be thinking and having a special toast to you
all..... .......may the next 1,000 years be joyful and peaceful ones. |
A Letter from Tenore,
I was not aware that WBS closed down. I am
not surprised, however. When I visited WBS several months ago not
a soul was in sight and the format had changed dramatically.
News ... During the course of conversations
with promoters
in the USA regarding a PBS television special,
I was contacted by an international agency that introduced some wonderful
ideas for me. As is usually the case, the timing and locations were
in total conflict. I opted to continue discussions with the international
agent and those discussions continue to this y. It is extremely complex
and I am being careful not to try and do too much for too long ... much
easier said than done. Where it will take me is not totally known
at this point, but hopefully NZ at some time. *S*
I truly hope everyone from NZ Chat is fine and happy
and I look forward to reading your January newsletter!
My best to you and yours,
Tenore1, aka TenoreUno
Sean and Maggie have moved house..yet
again... This time they're staying put for a while. At least
until they've built their new house.
The KiwiSnow's say they're "Off the island"
until January 7th. Maybe they've traded Paradise for a White Christmas
someplace.
Angel has had Roger visiting in New Zealand
for 2 weeks. They've had a great time and she can't wait to move
to Seattle.

us have not bee exposed to for a considerable period of time I am pleased

The second part of our exciting competition required
insight it seems denied to a few....*clearing throat*... to those (who

Quaton's
CUAS
Hi Fellow Kiwi Chatters !
An extremely busy time from
Quaton's end of the universe.....the restaurant has been flat out busy!!!
We get an interesting mix
of people coming in at this time of year. Ranging from young yuppies having
their Xmas functions to nerve racked families with kids in tow after a
day of Xmas shopping who don't have the energy to cook afterwards!
Down to business......this
recipe is another from the restaurant, a simple one and is appropriate
for this time of the year (mind you, It depends where you are in the world)
as it is a summer dip........
ANNIE'S SOUR CREAM DIP
500 gram tub sour cream
2 Dessert spoons Maggi
creme of mushroom soup mix
3/4 teaspoon Masterfoods
Mexican Chilli powder ( or similar )
1/2 teaspoon ground
black pepper
1/4 cup chopped spring
onions or chives
Stir all together in a small
bowl. Chill.
This makes about 4 servings
and is served with corn chips.
REMEMBER......All the recipes
in Quatons "CUAS" have been THOROUGHLY TRIED AND TESTED!!!
Please email me if you try
this great recipe out and let me know how
it went !!!.....phil@acapulcoannies.com
or http://www.acapulcoannies.com
Have a great Xmas and New
Year everyone and most of all.....Enjoy!!!!!

How many times in your life did
you ever think of visiting New York City (in the good ole USA) and take
one of the world famous taxi rides ("Where to Mac?") Never fear! Now from
the comforts of your computer, you can experience first hand...and without
the hassles of having to deal with New York cabbies:

Cool
Links
We thought it would be interesting for the proceeding
newsletters that a column would be devoted to fellow chatter's hometowns.
If you would like to be a guest writer and share with us about your hometown...we
sure would luv to hear from you.
My Hometown..Louisville
(pronounced..Louieville Luville)
by Daila aka
fillyd_2000
This month hometown is my hometown of Louisville,
Kentucky, USA.
Louisville is located on the Ohio River which the
river separates Kentucky
from neighboring Indiana. Kentucky is
located east of the Mississippi River and a few
states over from the Atlantic Ocean side.
I spend most of my life in Louisville. I was born
not far from Louisville in Fort Knox (yeah, I was an Army brat)
After dad got out of US Army, settled in Louisville
Louisville has about 260,000 people but with metro
area over 1 million people. Now that's a lot of people! My city is famous
for Churchill Downs..The Kentucky Derby, (now you know where the fillyd_2000
comes from) KFC, and regional hub for UPS. Famous people from Louisville
are Mohammad Ali, actor, Ned Beatty, football great Paul Horning. And recently
the first American to row the Atlantic, Tori Murden.
There are a lot of things to do here...shop, fine
dining and you thought we only had KFC), the arts, sports..
horse racing, college basketball, and we even have
a minor ice hockey team..go figure that one out!
Now you know about my hometown (do I really have
that southern accent, as some of you have heard).
Lets hear from the rest of ya'll! Contact Maggie,
Quaton or myself.

Celebrity Interview
Esa (aka Calgary)
kapowai: a/s/l
esa_calgary:
28/m/calgary alberta canada
kapowai: occupation
esa_calgary:
go
with student
kapowai: is that student of
life?... what are you studying?
esa_calgary:
computer programming at the moment... web related stuff mainly, or at least
thats what i'm trying to stick with
kapowai: gimme your favorite
book/movie/video/computer game/chat place any or all
esa_calgary:
fave book would have to be a series of books called "The Wheel of Time"
by Robert Jordan; there are currently like 6 or 7 in the series.... its
all one story that keeps going and going.. :)
kapowai: oooo sounds good...
what do you like about it?
esa_calgary:
i like that its very descriptive, the author does an amazing job describing
everything... and the fact that its an on-going tale.. each book has been
a good 700 pages i'd say so, hard to put down..
kapowai: so you 'see' it then?
esa_calgary:
yep, the sights/sounds are easily imagined in ones mind
kapowai: how long have you
been on the net chatting?
esa_calgary:
i started chatting.. 4-5 years ago...December of 1994 to be exact...
kapowai: you met many people
in real time that you originally met on the net?
esa_calgary:
yes was fortunate enough to meet 2 ppl from the NZ chatroom... Lucinda
(26E) and Autumn (Kekua).. spent 2 glorious weeks on the big island
in 1995 with them
kapowai: what about your home
town....
esa_calgary:
what bout my hometown? :) i was born/raised right here in Calgary...
kapowai: what do you like/hate
about it
esa_calgary::
i hate the winters!!! otherwise its a good city; lots to offer in entertainment
and for the fact we're at the doorstep of the beautiful rocky mountains.....
and of course that most of my friends/family live right here
kapowai: you have a girlfriend?
(making an assumption about your sexuality here)
esa_calgary:
nope i'm unfortunately single for 2 years now.. stilll havent gotten over
my last love :( *sob*
kapowai: moving right along.....*g*
....what's your favorite piece of clothing... and does everybody else hate
it?
esa_calgary:
my Edmonton Oilers hockey sweater.. :) and yah, most ppl hate it
seeing as I live in Calgary.. Edmonton is the arch-rival to Calgary in
everything that matters.. hehe.. what can i say, i march to a different
drum
kapowai: have you ever been
on TV?
esa_calgary:
nope.. was on the cover of a small soccer magazine in british columbia
though! that was like 16 years ago (i lived in BC for 3-4 years when
i was maybe 9-12/13 yrs old) (might actually been a paper publication..
been sooo long now... )
kapowai: so you have had a
small moment of fame then!.... do you still have a copy of the picture?
esa_calgary:
i imagine my mom has it in a photo album somewhere... ancient history to
me.. just popped into mind for some reason ...used to get write ups in
the local paper there quite often actually, all related to the soccer team
i played with... we'd get our names written up whenever we scored a goal,
was like a game summary kinda thing soo.... was cool to see at that age
but... fame? naw... :) was just what they did at that time for us
kapowai: do you still play
soccer?
esa_calgary:
nope, havent played for a good dozen years.. my interests changed to golf
when i moved back to the big city really; it suited my personality a bit
more i guess.. i'm quite shy until i get to know someone.. total introvert
really
kapowai: so what other talents
do you posess?.. apart from the sporting thing of soccer and golf... you
paint, sing, dance?....
esa_calgary:
hmm.... i wouldnt say so... well, maybe writing but, never really
written a lot to show real talent but... something i like to do.. always
wanted to write like a novel but
kapowai: but what?
esa_calgary:
just never have... one of those things i should do but havent gotten around
to... most of what i write is personal as in, sending emails to friends
or good old-fashioned letters too :)
kapowai: ok this question
is compulsory in any celebrity interview.... tell me about your most embarassing
moment
esa_calgary:hey,
i dont have one... :) *L* at least that i can think of
kapowai: you better think
some more
esa_calgary:
ok, i'll keep thinkin about it but... nothing really stands out to be honest...
*thinking*
kapowai: ok what about your
best holiday ever... where and when and why was is great?
esa_calgary:
thats easy, 1995 Hawaii with my chat pals... :) lots o reasons....
kapowai: cool.......
*s* including sun, sand, pacific island palm trees etc ... do you
still have contact with them?
esa_calgary: hawai'i is paradise...
beautiful, cant wait to get back one day... spent time with two generous
people who i consider great friends (lucinda/autumn) and i must say autumn
is someone i will consider to be one of the best friends i've ever had,
possibly THE best friend i could have....
esa_calgary:
yep i still keep in touch with them... :)
kapowai: well cool that sounds
nice *s*
kapowai: ok last question
.... if you hate anything what is it?
esa_calgary:
hmmm...... lots of hates.. *L* biggest hate would have
to be not knowing who i am or why i'm here.. kinda deep but, i'm a lost
soul, not sure how else to put it
kapowai: hmmmm ...you want
me to publish that?.... it's pretty personal.... I don't mind if
you don't mind....... but you might get all sorts of offers from well meaning
older women offering to show you the way to yourself *g*
esa_calgary:
*L* all offers declined.. i loved once and 'lost' so... no
i dont mind, its who i am... nothing to hide there.. its not like a BAD
thing really.. i hope.. :) nuther hate that i rue to this day...
not being with my best friend.. friends are more important to me than any
material thing or money that life seems to hold in high regard (eg. if
you arent a doc, yer a failure kinda thing).. so, if all else fails
i'll go to Tibet and become a Buddhist Monk |
