an inconvenient complication

unwanted liquid razors
puddle then dry
on brittle lashes
then salty flakes take flight
and sail out the open window
into the welcoming wind
along with my curses
and your compliments
and our promises

because i am inconvenient
because i am a complication
disrupting your seemingly perfect world
where you are in control of
everything
is in your hands

life is full of inconveniences
and complications
so i guess
i'm just another piece of inconsequential gravel
on your once-straight highway
i'm that resulting ache in your shoulders and back
after you slip on me
and fly uncontrollably over the handle bars
of your perfect little world
