Busy busy. Couple days until our culminating event for the Asian American Summit. The vets are coming in tomorrow eventing, and then its off to Ft McCoy on Monday, and Ceremonies on Tuesday. Have to say I'm a little burned out over the whole thing, Just got the Governor and Mayor's proclamations yesterday, talked to Jan a bit about AJAs. Lots of research in the area apparently according to her. I'm wondering what the options are for independent study.

Pop mentioned going to the club 100 when I come home for a couple weeks, he knows some guys who served in the 100th. Apparently he knows quite a few. still active, these guys too. would be interesting conversation, I'm sure. I wonder if they ever get sick of talking about it. Found out too that I have a couple uncles who served in the 100th too.

Otherwise, things have been winding down, or perhaps up maybe. Finals are looming, and lucky me they're almost all papers and take-homes. So much stuff been going on I think I forgot I was still in college. heh. Got a chance to talk to a Dean about some of my academic mishaps, might be able to do something about a few of them. crossing my fingers.

Looking forward to a year off, looks like home for me at the moment. these Japanese-teaching positions don't seem to be very viable at the moment, I might end up taking a 2nd year off to go. will see.

24 days to Hawaii nei.

So I had originally planned on starting off this entry by bitching about the slow speed of this computer I'm at while loading Eudora, but it just popped up. I might just continue this later.

Or maybe not. I'm trying to write a press release/invite for the final event of the semester as far as this AA month/summit stuff goes. The APA vets day is coming up pretty soon, and it seems like they'll be a pretty decent showing hopefully. minus all the distractions this past year, we seem to be pulling through pretty good. no like bachi yet though, I'll just wait and see.

It never ceases to amaze me how a professor can drone on in a soft, whiny tone of voice for a full power lecture about hypotheticals and abstracts, and still maintain a sense of conviction in stance and in tonality - maybe I say this because I have bnever been much of a public speaker to a crowd larger than 15, that is unless of course its a wrestling team. but thats another story there all together. stupid jock-talk never is that dificult when youre riding on a wave of emotions.

The last month of my classes is materializing, I hope that I can pull through without being too apathetic, senioritis like a mofo.

1 month to Hawaii nei

First things first, shameful plug K, thats enough of that.

Yup, Nader's back in Madison, part of the DLS series. full house too, lots of green supporters, wannabee liberals, progressives, and of course, a fair share of disgruntled Democrats. One of them got so pissed that he had to be confronted with some security. talking about fucking up this past election huh. I'm still sticking to my non-partisan standing, although I have to admit that a lot of what I've been able to gather in my sheltered political existance as a college student from Nader makes a lot of sense.

That is, a lot more than the alternatives . . . .

Got me in a better mood really, something about such a perspective that is cynically honest gives a change to the status quo. He even took a stab at the "sensitive liberals" many of whom were in the crowd obviously, discussing world & societal conditions over dinner - by the time the dessert comes out, total transcendence from the problem and the party is obtained, and total inaction ensues. He is a little self-rightous sounding, but I once again point at the alternatives. Democracy in my mind is still choice, imperfections granted.

Corruption is found in every organization, every political party, evey group of people, on a national level it is corporate corruption in the forms of special interest groups, white-collar crime, and corporate welfare. Prison Industrial Complex for instance. This level of profit-influence pervades society at every level, a trickle down theory if you will. I've been finding that the University is no exception to this either. and we as students are not as innocent from the urges of the dollar too. but what to expect when the commitment to a liberal education is undermined by status of the University business? shady stuff going on big time. Something else I left from the evening - I think JFK said it first, one of the best measures of a job well done is leaving the institution that you have been a part of a better place than it was when you first got there.

something lidat.

what else what else.....? hmm something along the line of "Justice as being the work of truly good people", "To know not to ask is not to know" and:

"True patriotism is not singing a song or pledging alligence to a flag, patriotism is the desire to make your country more adorable."

Mid april, the ides so to speak and about a month of school left. Starting to make some graduation plans and what not, checking out some flights home, and preparing for my final stages of research. Should be good to get home for a little before I take one more stab at academia at the undergraduate level. one credit to a psych degree, but I think I'll try and take a full 411 topics course instead of the 311 review session. Still a little sore that they wouldn't take all my UH psych credits to count for one in residence.

Just as well I suppose.

Looking forward to the summer actually, all the ice on the lake has finally melted, although the water is pretty damn cold. today the temps hit the 60s, almost 70 I think, ironic since Espresso Royale has started up the air conditioning - a true sign in the midwest that spring is here. Either its AC, or its heaters.

Still looking into some alternatives for the fall, and beyond. not sure what the future will bring, for sure I'm shipping out of here by August though, thats for sure. should be working on my thesis as well as some AA month followup and what not.

oh almost forgot that the AA summit is underway, we have two events planned for next week, one on Kaho'olawe, and on Paniolos.

Well, pau. It's been an interesting week, not to mention a year. same ole behavior along the lines of a mentality that seems to pervade regardless of merit or experience. One that I have to constantly warn myself against I'm realizing.

Good to come clean, closure is self-defined. Zen maybe? I have to read this book more often. Don't think people get it though. at this point it doesn't really matter

Anyway, on lighter notes, commencement things are coming up, I have to go and get pictures and measurements taken for walking in may. for some reason I don't really feel like a soon-to-be-graduate of the UW-Madison, maybe part of the pre to post jump anxiety that Barry was talking about. I'm actually feeling pretty decent myself at the moment. Almost ready to jump.

Refreshing what a change of perspective can do for ya.

This entry is pretty vauge, I know, if you're really interested, all you have to do is ask.

Politics Politics politics. oh well. Its been a learning experience to say the least. Lets just say that I'm in it for the long haul, committments to the job so to speak, it'll pass eventually. Lucy had a funny cartoon in class today, touched the funny bone on this situation that is going on quite well. wonder if she has a copy.

Kinda tired of staring at this computer screen, so maybe I'll end this entry here. Lots of work.
