I'm halfway through my spring break which is kind of strange since it isn't just march yet, and it still feels like winter outside, flurries here and there. Obviously it hasn't been much of a vacation for me considering, although it has been nice not having to go to class until 9:35pm in the middle of the week.

President's day weekend and its too cold to really do much outside, temps got down to almost zero with the windchills this past saturday around midnight, today didn't get much higher than 20. Found a coffee shop down Wisconsin ave that wasn't overcrowded, thinking about making that a study spot for the time being. It works out ok aside from having to catch a bus down the hill.

Went and bought an ipod shuffle, realizing that I needed to buy a new flash drive larger than 128 Megs, I might as well buy one that can play music at the same time. Plus with the nanos coming out, Apple decided to lower the price of the 1 gig from 160 to 99 bucks. In more ways than one I think I like the shuffle better than the regular ipod, I think 200+ songs is actually a better amount of songs compared to several thousand, after a certain point you end up putting all kinds of crap that you end up searching/skipping through your playlists to find a song you actually feel like listenting to.

Besides, the mobility of the shuffle also is a draw, its small enough to fit in your pocket without you really noticing it at all. Pretty amazing to realize how far the technology has become, I remember the days of hauling around discmans and cd wallets, it seems like back in the dark ages before digital music.

Thought my mouse problem was over but I had a little surprise this afternoon with a trap turned over. Looks like we still have some holdouts, at least this one seems a lot smaller than the other ones, and it has been relatively quiet since the new years.

V-day and I'm a so-so unhappy camper. not necessarily because of the day in itself, but more for the busy-ness that this week has been, is, and will be at least until I go on spring break. Then of course when one engine decides to take a rest, the other will take off. I have a bunch of big deadlines coming up that week at work on my new job that can't be moved.

Gotten so used to the grind from the new year that I hadn't realized how much leave I've been accumulating that I probably should use up. Wondering if I'll be able to pull a trip out of towne for a weekend, it would be nice to get away for a bit. Been meaning to either go up the coast to the other illustrous east coast cities, or maybe venture into VA to visit some historical sites.

Lots in the news about the VP's shooting accident. I got a big kick out of the Daily Show coverage about "shooting a man in the face" it didn't seem to get old at all no matter how many times they played off on it. I'm a little suprised at how the press for on is actually responding to this with some level of outrage. It almost seems like the press is still more interested in our politician's personal mistakes as opposed to their policy decisions.

The shooting accident just about almost replaced the other big news story regarding the offensive cartoons sparking riots and violence around the world. I am puzzled at the surprise expressed by people who don't understand why people are so pissed off, especially when most of these people are the same ones who are so insecure about how their own gods and prophets are depicted in popular culture and newsmedia.

Got caught up in the snowstorm that hit the coast this past weekend, spent a good hour shoveling out the following morning. It was fun at first, but got old pretty quick. Lucky me I don't have a car to de-ice and scrape when the weather turns all white. Too bad it didn't happen during the week, might've been able to get a snow day from work.

I could make a metaphor for the snow like you know what, but I think I'll save the font-space.

Crazy week so far, and too bad for me its not quite frickin over yet. Can't wait to get this report out the door, but I think it'll take at least a couple of more days reviewing and maybe even a saturday, sunday or both to really stick a fork in it. then again the thought of coming into the office doesnt' make the weekend sound that great afterall.

In the meantime I'm being pulled in different directions, namely forward to a new area of inquiry at work, not to mention another section of Torts and Contract Interpretation in class(es). All of which is more than a welcomed improvement really, only that I seem to be a little more stretched for time than I would like to be at the present moment.

Obviously I've been a bit more stressed lately than for my comfort, the strange thing is that for once its work-releated as opposed to school related. I'm cautiously confident that I'm getting more and more of a hang for the coursework and the reading as I trudge along, things have been clicking in my head more and more lately, especially in Torts - I think it has a lot to do with the style of instruction and the prof. Meanwhile while one fire is under control, another breaks out.

I can feel the tickle in my throat, crossing my fingers that I'm not coming down with a cold or the flu or anything, now would be a bad time to get sick for sure. Some of my classmates have been ditching out of class due to health reasons, I hear a lot of coughs and sniffles in classroom as of late, I have a gut feeling that there might be more as the flu season kicks out.

Its February and it looks like winter is officially here. temps at least, I was getting used to weather in the 60s for a while and then the cold came back in, it might even snow this weekend, or so the friendly weather people tell me in the morning as I'm getting ready for work.

Speaking of work, I'm in the midst of another transition between divisions, this time the time crunch is a bit more stressful and honestly a little ridiculous. I feel like I've been on fight or flight mode for the past 2 months or so, meeting deadline after deadline, but never really getting closer to the end goal as originally expected. After a while you get into deadline fatigue, with each one rolling over into another with no light visible at the end of the tunnel. Pretty soon you just hope to live to fight another day. In more ways than one I'm looking forward to a change of pace, a different perspective a different and perhaps more structured way of getting the work done.

The one plus side is that I do think the work we did accomplished some change, incrementally at least, its just a matter of closing it out and filing the paperwork, get some credit really. The last steps always come back to get you in the end. And thus is life.

Superbowl was kind of boring, I got recruited by one of my co-workers to cheer for the losing team, ultimately since my team was out I didn't feel strongly either way. I guess in the end I do have a little bit of bias towards smash mouth football as opposed to west coast offenses. Then again there wasn't too much of that either last night.

Been pretty busy lately, haven't had much time to read up on the news, but every once in a while an article catches my attention. numbers can be fudged and spun I understand, but only so much. Based on the budget proposals I've seen I don't think this one is too far off.
