Busy past two weeks, things have been moving at work, a welcome change of pace, things were getting bogged down in the process of how things get done, but otherwise business as usual I suppose. Got snowed in on Wednesday, trucked the hill in my snow boots to go to the store which was an adventure with all the unplowed snow still on the ground.

Lotsa links this posting, as you can see despite the busy work and school week I've somehow found a way to keep up to speed with what's been going on in the world.

Superbowl Sunday and I'm still a little sick, probably be watching the game from home since its so cold outside. I was however well enough to go back to work this past week, but a strange thing is that as I progressed on this week I ended up feeling like hell again on Friday, I felt like I was either getting sick again or had gotten another cold. Didn't want to call in sick again since I had just been out the previous week, so I decided to tough it out and go in anyway. not too much fun.

I think either way the couple of days off did wonders for my energy level and focus. I had a very productive week on all angles, especially with my classes, I found cases going by very quickly and being very engaged in the process. I really feel like I'm transitioning again to a higher level of understanding in regards to the material and way of thinking. Of course it might just be me getting a better handle of the rigors of evening law school. Work has picked up as well, I think we go through an administrative bump that was holding us back. Crossing my fingers to that things will be moving on from here on out.

In other news I got a summons in the mail for jury duty later this year, unlike most people I assume, I was actually pretty psyched, curious to see how the experience is in a different jurisdiction, and of course 5 years from the last time I got a summons. Then I looked at the estimated date of trial and realized that it would hit in the middle of my finals period. ouch. So I filled out a request for excuse/deferment which may or may not be granted. If my previous work experience is any indication, I know that students generally get a break, but not always. I really depends on the judge and the clerk, what mood they are in when they are selecting the jury pool.

Either way, like other things in life, if I'm selected to report I'll just have to find a way to deal with it. Maybe it'll be an extra motivator to study hard and (much) earlier this year.
