I was honored to be one of 12 delegates from Hawaii to go to The National 4-H Congress which was held in Atlanta, Georgia. The actual congress was from Friday, November 27, 1998 to Tuesday, December 01, 1998. Us Hawaii peoples left on Thanksgiving and returned on Wednesday, the second. It was so much fun. We had some workshops and community service. My workshops were Rolling in the Dough, about saving money and using credit cards wisely, Swing and Ballroom Dancing, World Music where a cool guy did some neat things on some funky drums, and the other I can't exactly remember. The community service I did was called Park Pride. Some of us including a girl from Wisconson named Val, my partner for the service project, a guy from Utah, and another guy from South Carolina picked up rubbish at John A. White Park. It was cool because it was right next to some sewage plant and a ditch ran along the park. It had a sign that said not to go into the ditch because it may be hazardous to your health. It was beautiful though. The trees were so pretty. Well, there were so many beer bottles along the edge of the park. I think that all the wasted beer that was left in the bottles could have filled a keg! Okay, I'm exaggerating, but it was a lot of beer. I noticed that they liked Hinekins (I don't know how to spell it) and Budwiser. I loved all the trees there. They were red and yellow. The zoo was so cool to me because you could see the falling leaves and there were so many leaves on the ground. We tried to make a pile of leaves to jump into, but I guess it wasn't big and poufy enough because I hurt my buttocks when I jumped in. It was fun though. Oh! Another cool thing was at a dinner, I had to sit with people from South Dakota. They were cool. They wanted more desserts so they asked the waiter to bring more. He asked the table next to us if they were going to finish their tray and they said no so he gave it to us! Then, he came back with a fresh tray later! He was so cool. I also got to tour the Atlanta Motor Speedway. It was neat because we got to actually go on the track but in a big van. The lady went about 75 mph and made a fast pit-stop like stop.
