This is some stuff about

Savage Garden is a pop group from Brisbane, Australia. About 5 years ago, Daniel Jones, the guitarist, was in a band who was looking for a lead singer. They put an ad in a music mag, and Darren Hayes came to audition. He says that he sang in the wrong key, and his voice cracked but “We just sort of clicked”, said Darren, so he got the job. It didn’t really work out with the band, so they left. They decided to do a duo thing. Darren and Daniel worked really hard, and guess where they are now!

Darren was born in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, the youngest of three. He grew up in Logan City and loves Star Wars. He’s also married to Colby Hayes (Taylor). That makes me sad, but I don’t even know him, so… they must be happy. Darren, a vegetarian is 25 years old, born on May 8.

Daniel was born in Essex, England on July 22, 1973 and is also the youngest of three. When he was one, he moved and grew up in Logan City. He’s not married yet...

They got their name from an Anne Rice novel. She describes a vampire’s world being primitive, but beautiful, like a Savage Garden.

Their first single, “I Want You”, hit number three on the Australian charts, and went platinum as the biggest-selling Australian single in 1996. I totally loved that song. I remember hearing it on the radio and trying to figure out who the singer was. I found out who the singer was from watching MTV or VH1. I saw the video and thought “this is weird, but the guy is kinda good looking.” After that I was hooked, but I thought “I shouldn’t buy the cd, the rest of the songs might suck”, so I waited. The next single came out. It was “To the Moon and Back”. It’s about a mutual friend of theirs. There are two versions of the video. One is very bluish in color. Darren had long hair in this video. There is a new one that just came out in the United States. It’s more dark and it's at night and he has short hair. After that song came out, I decided that I should buy the cd. I knew that the rest was going to be good. And plus, they were so sexy! How could I not get it? Well, getting back to the subject. Their third single was “Truly Madly Deeply”. This was and still is a really popular song in the US. It went up to the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. If you watch VH1, it was on their Top Ten Countdown for like ever! It was stuck at number five for a long time, but that was when Titanic was popular, and everybody liked that song. Their fourth single is “Break Me Shake Me”. They have a video out, but it is not in the United States yet. If you want to see a clip, you can download it from Savage Garden's Home Page. Their fifth single which is my personal favorite is “Universe”. It was originally supposed to be an instrumental track possibly suited to guitar. But then they changed it a bit, and viola it’s what it is now!

The songs on the American CD are:
  1. To the Moon and Back
  2. I Want You
  3. Truly Madly Deeply
  4. Tears Of Pearls
  5. Universe
  6. Carry on Dancing (you should be listening to this song right now!)
  7. Violet
  8. Break Me Shake Me
  9. A Thousand Words
  10. Promises
  11. Santa Monica

The songs on the Australian CD are:
  1. To The Moon and Back
  2. Carry on Dancing
  3. Tears of Pearls
  4. I Want You
  5. Truly Madly Deeply
  6. Violet
  7. All Around Me
  8. Universe
  9. A Thousand Words
  10. Break Me Shake Me
  11. Mine
  12. Santa Monica

I got a Japanese import from the mainland. It's called "truly madly deeply~ultra rare tracks". It has:

  1. all around me
  2. truly madly deeply (album version)
  3. fire inside the man
  4. i'll bet he was cool
  5. i want you (xeno mania punxy mix)
  6. love can move you
  7. this side of me
  8. memories are designed to fade
  9. to the moon & back (hanis num radio edit)
  10. santa monica (bittersweet mix)
  11. break me shake me (acoustic live)
  12. i want you (acoustic live)
  13. truly madly deeply (dub mix)
  14. truly madly deeply (australian mix)

I especially like “Universe”, “Santa Monica”, and “I Want You”, but all of the songs on the album are extremely good. If you want to listen to some of these songs or watch some stuff on real video, this page as well as Savage Garden's own page has something so that you can.

Savage Garden has been on MTV's FANatic, VH1's Hard Rock Live, The Rosie O'Donnel Show, The Late Show with David Letterman, MTV Live, and many more shows.
They aren't touring the United States any more. The do have a new video out now! It's also on DVD. I think it's got I Want You, Break Me Shake Me, Tears of Pearls, To The Moon And Back and Truly Madly Deeply.

I wish I could say more about Savage Garden, but I’m kinda tired and lazy, and I don’t want to seem like a stalker (which I’m not). But when I find out more, I’ll update it. I guess not to many people I know like Savage Garden, but I know a super-duper amount of people do. If you want to check out Savage Garden’s Home Page, please do. It's at www.savagegarden.com, or you can go back to my main page and link from there.
