FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
Q:
Who can advertise?
A:
Anyone who is able to express him- or herself in a major language, such
as English, French, Spanish, Portuguese. Anyone who have a real desire
of finding friends overseas, and who don't stop writing after 3 letters
...
Q:
I am a 9 years old girl. Is it possible to find girls around my age from
other countries?
A:
Yes, we have a special section for children up to 12, and yet another for
youth from 12 and up to 18. The reason why we have different pen-friend
lists, is that these categories have such different interests.
The
teenagers don't want to have adverts from 7-year old in their list, they
don't want adverts from 40-year olds either. We don't want to mix adult
adverts with kids & teens adverts.
Q:
If I place my advert today, when can people read it (when can I count on
receiving answers?)
A:
You place your advert yourself. It is visible for the world to see a few
seconds after you have clicked on the button.
Q:
I am a mother for younger kids who would like to have pen friends. How
about safety? I don't want weirdos to knock on our door afterwards...
A:
You can not really be 100 % safe, but there are few things you could instruct
your children to ensure a better caution. Tell them never to give out your
home address (i.e. street address) to anyone. If someone ask for the home
postal address (i.e. a company want to send information), instruct the
child to ask for the company's postal address. Then you may let the child
write a postal letter to the company for information. If your child's pen
friend ask for a meeting, have this in mind: never let your child out of
sight! Decide a place to meet, like a café, or likewise. Take your
child there, and take place one or two tables away. 999 times out of 1000
times it will be all OK, but try to avoid the 1 time out of 1000...
;-)
Q:
How much does it cost to have pen friends through your organisation?
A:
If you place an advert on the web, it's free of charges. If you place an
advert in our printed (on paper) pen friend magazine, you pay a small charge,
since it is not free to produce a printed magazine. Which is quite understandable.
Read more about the magazine here. We want to be a worldwide organisation,
we publish the magazine for those persons in the world who don't have,
or don't want to have access to the Internet, or for those wo believe in
traditional penpalling.
