The Great North Walk is a series of walking tracks joining the two cities Sydney and Newcastle on the Australian east coast over a distance of 250km (156 miles). Varying lengths may be attempted from a simple day walk to a 14 day bush trek. I intend to take the 14 day option in the next few years with a good friend of mine.

The Great North walk was suggested during the celebration of Australia's Bicentennary by bushwalkers Leigh Shearer-Heriot and Garry McDougall and is administered by CaLM (the Department of Conservation and Land Management). It now stands as a showcase of Australia's beautiful bushland, while still being accessible to all.
