INDIANAPOLIS HERE WE COME!!!

My HS Wind Ensemble got invited to play at the Bands of America National Convert Band Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana the weekend of April 22th-25th, 1999. It was a BLAST!! and of course an honor :o) We we left GA at 10pm on wed night and got to Indy at around 9 on Thurs morn. Then we went straight to rehersals and to hear a motivational speaker (which was actually pretty good!) and stuff! We were the first band to perform Thurs evening - so it was a test of our adrenaline! We got to hear several other honor bands from around the country play. We also got to tour the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (which was a lot neater than I thought it would be!) and the Indianapolis Museum of Art (which, as a a future art/art history major, I thought was awesome! I got to see some of the most amazing works of art in the whole world! k, enough about that!) Basically, we had a FABULOUS time. I'm so glad that I got to go. OH!! How could I forget!! we also got the privlege of having THE CANADIAN BRASS(!!) perform a concert for us!! It was AWESOME! I'm quite jealous of the brass players who got to have a masterclass with them (we got some stupid flute lady who told us that you were supposed to play with your chin, not your mouth. I think she needs therapy.) Anyway! Onto what you really care about... PICTURES!!!! Here they are!

But first... wanna know what we played for the concert? I'm gonna tell you anyway!

Little English Girl (D. Delle Cese)
Four Scottish Dances (Malcom Arnold/John P. Paynter)
Italian In Algiers (Giocchino Rossini/ Lucien Caillet)
Songs of Sailor and Sea (Robert W. Smith)
Feierlicher Einzug - means Solemn Procession (Richard Strauss/Charles Richard Spinney)
