The Astral Void of the Mind

Floating in the vast emptiness of space,
Yet I still can breathe,
A warm gust of air rushes past my face,

Spinning,
Spinning forever in the middle of nowhere,
I am here and yet I know it is not real,
This is my domain,
Everything here is at my command.

Concentrating, focusing,
No longer in the darkness of the void,
I am no longer ruled by the laws of
Science, Religion, or Man.
Bound only by what I feel are my limitations,
And yet I am not bound by these either.

I can create or destroy worlds,
I can lose or win battles,
And bring peace to my tormented mind,
By battling the enemy within.

Soon everything fades into the dark loneliness of the void
And I feel an air of despair around me,
As I leave this world,
To enter the world that so many cherish,
The world of reality…
