It's my time to shine now! Aright, first I got some news that may be a lil' shockin' to ya'll. My first name is NOT TATIANA! That's my middle name and I use that becuz of all the fruit loops that are on the internet. My last name is Perez, and I'm an 18 year old Gemini (as of 5/23/98). I'm a so called "mutt", my father is full blooded Puerto Rican, and my mom is part German and Norwegian! I live in NJ, USA by the SIX FLAGS Great Adventure, and just recently started college here. I could start writing about alot more, but this site is dedicated to Selena, and there's prolly no-one even reading this n-e way.
Why Start A Page of Selena?
Becuz becuz becuz becuz becuuuuuuuz...becuz of the wonderful things she does! Ha. I started this webpage cuz there's so many webpages on Selena out there, but I just wanted to have MY OWN. I promised myself that it wouldn't be the same old pics, and the story of her life. Why? Cuz you can look n-e where on the web for that. I wanted to provide a place for Selena fans to sit back and chill and laugh and all that good stuff. Selena doesn't want us moping around and starin at her all day, she'd much rather us have FUN! So, lemme tell ya'll a lil summin bout how I got into likin' Sel.
My Selena Story
Ok, it all started back in 1993, first off, I had a friend named Selena, so n-e time I heard that name I automatically thought they were talkin' bout her. Until I was over this girl's house one day and she was playing Como LA Flor. This girl was spanish, and could speak it fluently this was around the time when "El General" had that song "No Me Trates Mal(?). Myself, couldn't speak hardly any Spanish. I grew up hearing people in my family sayin' the normal like "Ven Aqui, da me un beso, agua, siete te"" and that good stuff. N-e way, so she's playing this song, and I'm like, "Who's That?" She looked at me like I had 2 heads and then said, "Selena". I started laughing and said, "Yea, right, Selena can't sing like that." I was joking, refering to my friend Selena, then my friend just looked at me like I had serious problems and shut up. So, that was that until mid '94 and I was watching some music show on the Spanish Channel. They showed this video with these somewhat goodlooking men, and then they showed this girl. She was beautiful, I started doing a lil' playa hatin. :o) (hey at least I'll admit it!) If you haven't guessed, the video I was wathcing was Donde Quiera Que Estes. The reason it attracted me so much, was becuz of the beat, I'm into those hip hop beats. Well, that was all I heard of Selena until the fretful day March 31, 1995. I heard almost exactly at the moment she died and was glued to the TV. Then when they showed that that "Y" lady was in the car and they were showing it non-stop, that was it. I wanted to know more. I put the Spanish channel on and was watching, even though I had no idea what they were saying. I remember going to the WaWa down the street at like 6pm. and coming home and she was still in the car. Weeks past and I didn't really hear much. Selena stuff was everywhere though. One day, cd's were on sale at Caldor, so went and I think they wer 2 for $20 or summin. I decided to get the "Dreaming of You" cd. At first I only wanted to hear the English Songs. As I said, I didn't know any spanish, I was in my 2nd year of spanish at high school tho. So, as I'm listenin' I'm reading the inside of the cd and it showed the translations of the Spanish Songs. I fell in love w/the Como La Flor song, b4 I heard it cuz of the words. They really pertained to one relationship that I had. So, I started listening to the Spanish songs, and was like HEY! It's those Barrio Boyz again, cept it's in English. Then, the Tu Solo Tu song really just touch my heart, and that was it. I was hooked. I continued to play that cd over and over and over, my dad actually asked me if that was the only cd I had, I said "Yes, it is!". My lil'cousin Ashley, (she's my godaughter too!) who was I believe 5 at the time started this lil Bidi Bidi Bom Bom dance, I was gettin' her hooked too!! Then, one day me and my mother went to the flea market, this was around the time when if you went to a flea market, they had those "flea market" lookin' shirts that had Selena on them. 
(You know those black shirts with the color pictures on them, that come off if you wash it!) n-e way, there was a guy who had these shirts hanging up. So it attracted me to the table and I looked and there was these tapes that had Selena videos on them!! I only bought the one, oh how I regret not buying the other one! :o( So, I bought this video and watched it a-e day. Next, now this is freaky, don't ask me how, but I received the "Selena-ETC." catalog in the mail. I didn't care "why" I received it, I was just so hype that I did receive it. I wanted a-e thing in the magazine. Unfortuanlty, I only ended up getting two 1996 calanders cuz they were on sale for like $2, I think. Then like 2 weeks later, the same catalog came in the mail AGAIN! but this time it had my mother's name on it. So of course, the other catalog came a few weeks later, the one with Jennifer Pena's sister on the cover. So, by this time any body that came over my house, I had them watching these music videos. We took a trip up to the Franklin Mills Mall in Philly one day in December, and I seen this Selena book, "SELENA!!" , by Clint Richmond, I begged to get this, but my mom said no. So, we left the store, and my dad went back in there and bought it for me!! I was sooooooo happy. I then got a letter asking if I wanted to join the fanclub, this was like for 20 summin' bucks, so I had to beg my mom again. She budged, (finally), and then from there on, well, that's where it leads me today. I actually cut school to see the Selena movie on the first day it came out, to see the first showing. (I still got the ticket stub!). That's it. I eventually equaled up to have all this stuff that I have today. Some say I'm obsessed w/her. But, it's not that. I just really really respect her and look up to her.
