Minutes from 3-8-00
Sorry if this doesn't make much sense. I don't really know too many names. I'm not really familiar with your New York ways. I'm just a simple guy from California. Feel free to write back and fill in the blanks. 3.8.00 (Ash Wednesday) A meeting of the NYSPIRITS took place at MOTOR CITY BAR. The bar is an homage to all things Detroit: Cars,......uh..... well cars. Malibu and San Francisco Joey were the first to arrive at 8:30 p.m.. Michelle arrived soon after. She had decided to skip school in need of a cold one. (A great way to start Lent). She also failed to wear an ash on her forehead and reprotedly was unable to point a fellow Catholic to the closest church earlier in the day. They played video games and spoke of the meals they had enjoyed. Michelle grabbed a slice on the way to the meeting. Joey and Malibu had a fried chicken dinner at the Pink Tea Cup (The Village's favorite soul food). Michelle announced that she had bought a ticket to the New Orleans Jazz Fest. It was learned that at least one NYSPIRIT (Michelle) and several SFSPIRITS (Joey, Matt, Ryan) will be in New Orleans at the same time. A meeting will have to be arranged. More details to come. At about 9:15 p.m a girl wondered in and looked a bit lost. She walked around for awhile and finally got up the nerve to ask us if we were "the club." We proudly said we were. We then had to explain that, yes, the club was a drinking club. And we didn't really do much beyond drink. She appeared a bit apprehensive, but sat down with us anyway. Her cell phone rang and it was her friends telling her that they'd be there soon. She appeared relieved. At about 9:30 a whole mess of people arrived. (This is the part where I need help. As I said, I'm not too good with names.) Moods were good all around. All were enjoying themselves. Gates had taken the wise advice of a friend and had gone home to change out of his suit. He wore jeans and a button down shirt. Still a bit overdressed for this bar, but he did not stick out. Tiffany arrived with a coworker who actually lives in San Francisco. Her coworker (name?) expressed interest in visiting the SFSpirits. Tiffany had warned her that she had been to a meeting and it wasn't too fun. I explained that she went to a meeting during Christmas break and begged of her to give us another chance. She said she would. Someone at the other end of the bar kept yelling things into a megaphone. It turns out it was someone's (not a club member's) birthday. Another group (perhaps a rival drinking club?) was taking over the other end of the bar. The bar was split in two - NYSPIRITS & Tatooed Roughnecks. Ice cream cake was served. No cale was offered to the NYSPIRITS. There was very little mingling between the two groups. Malibu, Joey and Limey Richard shared some poems. Limey Richard said something that may have ended in "chinese chicken." To which we all laughed. Malibu replied with: Milk, Milk, Lemonade.... Limey Richard did not understand. It may be a cultural thing. Joey seemed to think there's more to the "Milk, Milk, Lemonade" poem. Does anyone remember? At about 11:00 the crowd began to thin quickly. Joey, Michelle, Tiffany and Gates decided to share a cab home. In the cab, nicknames (ie. Joey) were discussed. Tiffany and Michelle decided they need nicknames, but that they need to be born out of an embarrassing event. The first stop was for Gates. Joey and Tiffany also got out here and took in a late night Taco Bell dinner. Tiffany (Taco Bell) is reported to have not felt 100% the next morning. Others who were present were: Ruddy Steve and B.A. Plenty others were present, but I don't know your names. That makes you no less important, it just makes you someone whose name I don't know. One note, the men's restroom at Motor City Bar leaves a little to be desired. It is advised that you take care of all intestinal requirements before visiting this bar. In other words, don't have a fried chicken dinner then go to Motor City Bar.
