Bring all ingredients to room temperature. | |
1/2 lb butter | 1 cup milk |
1/2 cup Crisco | 1/2 tsp baking powder |
3 cups sugar | 1 tsp vanilla |
3 cups plain flour | 1 tsp lemon juice |
5 eggs | |
Sift together flour and baking powder and put aside. Cream together butter and Crisco. Add sugar, then add one egg at a time. Begin adding flour and milk alternately. When mixed well add vanilla and lemon juice. Bake at 325ºF for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Let sit for 5 minutes. |
