2 cups sugar | 2 1/2 cups plain flour |

1 tbsp vinegar | 2 oz red food coloring |

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Make a paste from cocoa and vinegar and add to the mixture. Sift salt and flour. Dissolve soda into the buttermilk and add alternately with flour to the butter/sugar mixture. Add the vanilla and food coloring. Bake in three 9-inch cake pans at 350º for 30 minutes or until done. Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting. |

In a mixer bowl, beat together cream cheese, butter, and vanilla till light and fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating till smooth. Spread over cooled cake. Cover iced cake and store in refrigerator. |
