Scientists think ADHD occurs because certain
receptors in the brain involved in focusing attention and reining in
impulsiveness fail to respond to the brains natural
chemicals.

There are several theories of why people get ADHD,
but the cause is unknown, One theory is abnormally high levels of testosterone
in babies that are in the womb and the other is oxygen deprivation around birth
or later, which scars the tissue in areas of the brain. ADHD is a common health
problem in
children.

ADHD that is left untreated can effect a child's
social and educational performance and can seriously damage his or her self
esteem.
