Saint Peter's Square at 10:30 am on New Years Day

the top right of that building)
I was excited to see the Pope on the TV, but alas, that wouldn't be all i saw...
The amount of gold and ivory etc. adorning the Vatican
was at once
breathtaking and at the same time ennervating...
At the end of the Mass (that's right, i sat through an
entire mass...) The procession out of
the Cathedral begins...
The cardinals were the first to come by...
And there he is - the "big" man himself - sorry it's shakey,
i think my mom's
picture is better (i'll work on it)
And the Pope's faithful guardians the Swiss Guards...oh
and even though Vatican City
is it's own country, they get Roman police officers anyway...
At about 12, mom and i walked out of the cathedral to
thousands of people in the square,
all devoted Catholics, waiting to hear the Pope speak
from that tiny window....
