Mobility Troop
Mobility troop is where the SAS started. The SAS was formed as a long Range Desert group, to harass and destroy axis airplanes and airfields. They used jeeps and trucks. Today, the SAS use modern jeeps. The jeeps they use are: the Land Rover Defender 90, and the Land Rover Defender 110. Although the SAS prefer to use jeeps, they also use trucks and motorcycles. When Mobility troop goes out, they don't have to carry heavy bergens, they just load their vehicles to the max, and can operate without a re-supply for weeks. Mobility troop is only able to operate in certain areas. They couldn't go to the falklands because it is all mountains. They couldn't operate in Northern Ireland, because they stick out way to much, and are lightlly armored. And last, they cannot operate in jungle because there are too many trees and rivers. So if you're in Mobility troop, you don't see much vehicle action.
The vehicle that that comes to mind when most people think "Mobility Troop" is the Land Rover. The Land Rover replaced the jeep of world war two during the 1950s. The Land Rovers have a great payload carrying capability and great reliability. The British Army uses three models of the Land Rover. The 90s, the 110s, and the 130s.  During Desert Storm, Land Rover renamed it's military vehicles in the "Defender" series, which is the designation used today.
The SAS mostly uss the long wheelbase variant because of it's greater payload-carrying capability. The Most Famous Variant is the "Pink Panther" which has served faithfully as the Regiment's long-range desert patrol vehicle.
