One of the biggest ironies in my life has got to be my affection for both the book The Catcher in the Rye and the musician John Lennon. As most of you are aware the man who killed John Lennon felt compelled to do so becuase of The Catcher in the Rye. He was convinced that John was a phony and it was his calling in life to destroy phonies before they corrupted the world.
Now as much as I hate to admit it, maybe John Lennon was a bit phony. I read this biography on him once that was anything but flattering. But, still, he couldn't be all bad with all the beautiful music he wrote. Maybe I'm just an optimist.
The Catcher in the Rye is surely my favourite book. I don't know if it's jsut the time period, or the writing style, or Holden. I love it though. It really kills me.
