Rukawa Kaede as a player

Hates to lose. He'd die first than to lose *exaggeration* but essentially true...he even played with one bloody eye just to win a game! He's very skillful as well *no need to elaborate on that* (since he can dunk a shot after putting it down for a while...pass three defenders...shoot three points...get the rebounds...assist an alley-hoop...run on fastbreaks...and the likes), he can do magic with the basketball. He is an over-all player...being capable of 4 dunk shots and 50 points a game (as said by Hikoichi). He's very reliable, for he's always scoring at the right time (as Kogure always say "He gets the points when we need it"). And inversely proportional with his student role, he's a very responsible basketball player, never forgetting to wake up early in the morning to bike around town just to practice. In addition, as a player, he's very popular...with a half-gymnasium total member of fans club and cheering squad...you can definitely say he's on the most wanted list. And like all the other players, he's spunky! Spoilers though, he lack stamina...but compensated it by the end of the series. Talkative on court...likes to challenge players especially Sendoh...that's why there's SenRu *pokes herself...shut up*.

Rukawa Kaede as a student

If you base it on the series...he's quite irresponsible...failing and all...not to mention making school as his bedroom. But like what I've read in one site (gomen, I didn't take note of the site) Rukawa Kaede isn't at all brainless because if he is then he wouldn't have been in high school in the first place...just not his priorities I guess...well we know he's all basketball.

Rukawa Kaede as seen by others

People see him cold, heartless and selfish. But if you look closely, he's the opposite - well if not, he has reasons. He may be speaking coldly, yes but it's because he won't tolerate others mistakes and risking his goals and the goals of the majority. An example would be for Sakuragi, he's so damn cold to this guy because he's quite careless on court...if he doesn't do something, they'd lose...in which they can't afford. Besides, he knows his effect on Sakuragi...he turns Sakuragi's jealousy (the Haruko stuff) into something more productive like doing something to win the game...but I mind you...that THIS IS NOT A HANARU SITE...and what I'm talking about here is the game and not at all some yaoi stuff. About Haruko, he knows that if he talked to Haruko, he would only be raising her hopes to the fact that nothing can ever happen so he's just dumping her early to prevent further problems...besides a girl running over a guy doesn't seem so appealing. The same logic is true with the selfish and heartless thing...his cool attitude provokes other people to look on the bright side and take things as a challenge and not to fail...it is for the good of both parties...well...in short, he has his own way of manipulating things and ends up having everyone he cares for a winner.

Other things a Rukawa fan should know

+ He entered Shohoku for the simple reason that the school is near his home.

+ He had once beaten his teacher for waking him up.

+ He had knocked out 3 of Mitsui's gang when they woke him up in his sleep.

+ He made it in the All-Japan team.

+ His eyes are blue and fox-like *duh?!*.

+ He was the one who initiated the physical rumble in the gym (Mitsui's gangster years).

+ His room is with the following things: a bed, a study table, a towel on the floor, blue curtains *as I remember*, and a pillow.

+ His seiyuu is Hikaru Midorikawa which is the voice behind Tamahome of FY and Heero Yuy of GW.

+ Tomigaoka Jr. High should've been the Champs back in Rukawa's Captain years, but he woke up late and never made it to the game.

+ And he should've been the MVP but due to THAT, he wasn't chosen (Got that from a source, I don't know if it's really accurate).

+ But what's definitely accurate is of course...he can drive any girl down on their knees by his mere presence...of course you guys know that, right?
