Finding Saionji unconscious and floating facedown in one of the pools, Utena hauls him out, smacking him into reality. Claiming that it was not him that opened the gate, they rush up the stairs to find the arena deadly quiet. As they look around, a giant red stone rose catches their eyes. In the center of the rose, a closed coffin sits. Before their eyes, the lid opens and vanishes, exposing Anthy curled up within it, on a bed or roses. |

"Anthy!" Utena cries, making a run for the coffin. As she gets close to it, a giant stone pilar appears, sending it into the sky. Other pilars appear, one carrying her towards it. When they begin to crumble, Saionji is crushed by a turret of the castle that falls down. Utena makes a flying leap from her perch, reaching for Anthy. The rose coffin vanishes and she grabs Anthy's hand. |

When they land on the ground, Utena tries to revive her as Saionji looks up and asks what just happened. Seeing Utena waking Anthy, he mutters "No I will be the one to save her this time. The castle said to contain eternity, the power to revolutionize the world, they belong to me!" |

As Anthy awakens, Saionji draws his katana on Utena and she lets out a scream. Touga is suddenly in front of Saionji and Utena and takes a painful injury. "Touga! Why?" Utena asks. "Wasn't your prince...someone like me?" he asks weakly. Sainji stares blankly at him, asking him "Why do you always..." "I'm a gentleman, that's why," Touga responds as Saionji collapses to the ground. |

When Touga recieves a phone call in the hospital, his cryptic message to the caller is that the letter he sent was in the caller's name and that he is all right, it was just a flesh wound. "Saionji was punished by expulsion. Anyone who believes that he truly has friends is a fool." When Saionji leaves the campus, Touga is there to see him off. Saionji gives him the exchange diary he and Anthy shared, asking |
