When Utena and Juri encounter eachother in the halls of the academy, they are both slightly wary of eachother. Utena asks if the rumors of her driving teachers away are true. Juri seems amused by this, asking her about the rumors she has heard about Utena's swordfighting skill. Utena tells Juri that she is not terribly interested in swordfighting and then asks Juri if she will be pursuing the Rose Bride herself. Juri asks her if she knows why they are all so obsessed with the Bride and the duels and gives her some insight as to why the council is so obsessed with the Anthy, telling her that the Bride is supposed to bring to her champion the power of miracles and the power to revolutionize the world. Utena's amusement is clear and she jokingly tells Juri she wishes that she could use that to help pass her finals, but says she thinks all the fighting is stupid. Juri agrees with her and states that miracles do not exist. Utena agrees that they must be on the same wavelength. |

When the next council has its next meeting, Juri volunteers to fight Utena in a duel in order to disprove the power of the Rose Bride and the power of miracles, her memories apparently prompting this decision. |

When Utena comes upon Juri at night near the fountain while walking Chuchu, she is surprised to see her dressed so incredibly feminine. Juri then asks her why she always dresses like a boy. Utena sits and twists her ring around her finger as she speaks. When I was young, I met a prince. He said 'I want that you should never loose your strength and nobility' and then he gave me this ring. 'It will lead you to me one day' he said. |

I want to be close to him. That is why I dress like this. Utena apologizes to Juri for telling her silly stories. I don't believe that the Rose Bride can bring the power of miracles, but I can believe in the fate between him and me. If you call it a miracle, then maybe it is one, but..." Juri then rises, placing a hand on the side of Utena's face and caressing it. Utena is shocked as Juri seems to lean in to kiss her and then grabs her hand, trying to force the ring off. "Your rose signet, throw this ring away! It's disgusting! Your so-called nobility is to copycat as someone you love has told you!" |

"Yes, fighting for the Rose Bride is just as stupid as your sentiment to your prince! However, to be truly qualified for that, you must be truly noble. The rose signet dosen't suit the likes of you." Juri rages. "I won't throw it away! Utena cries. It's the only tie I have to him! I won't loose it no matter what," "Then show me your miracle! You can prove it with your sword." Juri demands. |

"Just as I said yesterday, if you beat me with the power of miracles, you are entitled to your conceit." Juri challenges her as they face off. Utena draws the sword from Anthy, and the duel is begun. She makes a poor move, using a running thrust and Juri sidesteps her. Utena nearly looses her footing and turns sharply. "Are you all right, 'prince'? we've just started," Juri taunts. |

"Why don't you try to step aside, at least?" Juri asks. "Pathetic, you're already exhausted, but I will show you no mercy! Isn't your miracle going to happen, 'prince'?" she laughs as she drives Utena around the arena, forcing her to guard herself. When she nears Utena, she gives her a push which sends her flying. |

Dios suddenly descends to assist Utena and she flies towards Juri at light speed. "She's fast!" Juri thinks as she sweeps towards the thrust. "But there are no miracles!" she cries, shifting Utena's sword upward and making her loose her grip. The sword flies out of her grasp and Juri catches her only to throw her to the ground. "It's over," she says, levelling her sword at Utena's chest. |

Suddenly, the sword falls down from the sky, piercing the center of the rose. It slips down the blade and lands on the arena floor. "No!" Juri cries, "This is just a coincedence! No miracle occurred!" "Impossible!" Utena says in disbelief. Anthy walks over to Juri, holding a fresh orange rose to her. "May your wish come true someday" she says. "Mind your own buisness," Juri replies with disdain as she walks off. |

"So do you admit the existance of miracles?" Touga asks her. "Who knows," she responds. But if she does have the power to revolutionize the world, I will wrest it from her with my own hands." "To achieve your secret wish?" Touga asks suggestively as he walks away. |
