SPK Consultants is founded by Mikaeel Yap. It follows after the name "Syarikat Perniagaan Kamil" which means the perfected trading company. Thus the acronym SPK. Mikaeel has been nicknamed Kamil, by associates close to him, because of his earnest search for "perfection" or excellence, by the grace of Allah Most High and Almighty, Mikaeel is a revert. His real name is Aiman Fazeer Yap, Mikaeel has been in the Performance Development and Training business for the past 18 years.

Mikaeel founded the firm in 1987 amidst the recession. At this time local firms were searching for ways and means to be effective and productive with profits.
