| A ship loaded with Marmon-Herrington tanks was sunk by the Japanese in 1942 and after they overran the archipelago a shipment of 52 Marmon-Herrington CTLS-4TAC/-4TAY tanks was diverted to Australia. These were used for training Australian armoured units until they got better equipment and thereafter they were broken up: the armour was used on landing craft and the engines and machine guns were also used on ships in Australia. |
