| IDX Systems Corporation is a provider of information technology for
physician groups, hospitals and integrated delivery networks (IDNs). IDX
operates its business in two separate segments, Information Systems and
Services and Medical Transcription Services. IDX's core business segment,
providing information systems, services and connectivity for its clients,
operates under the IDX brand name and consists of software licensing,
services and hardware sales. EDiX Corporation (EdiX), which IDX acquired
in April 1999, operates as a separate business segment providing medical
transcription services. As of December 31, 2001, IDX's systems were
deployed to serve approximately 134,000 physicians and were installed at
over 3,200 client sites. EDiX, a subsidiary of IDX, serves over 220 health
systems and physician groups throughout the United States. |
