applications and services that enable the convergence of the Internet and
wireless and wireline communications. The Company's Openwave Services OS
(operating system) software suite enables telecommunication companies and
wireless service providers to create and deploy new revenue-generating
services, while providing their subscribers with a rich personalized
experience. The Openwave Services OS software suite is designed to provide
carrier-class scalability and reliability, and work with industry
standards such as WAP (wireless application protocol), XHTML (extensible
hypertext markup language), SyncML (synchronized markup language) and
VoiceXML (voice extensible markup language). In July 2002, the Company
acquired SignalSoft Corporation, a company engaged in software
applications for both commercial and emergency (E911) location-based
