systems, including database management systems, data replication and
middle-tier persistence for distributed computing environments such as the
growing e-business marketplace. The Company's initial flagship product was
Versant Developer Suite (VDS), a sixth-generation object database
management system that combines native support for object-oriented
languages with high performance database functionality and a client-server
architecture. VDS is the foundation for Versant's e-business product
suite, Versant enJin, a Java development and runtime platform designed to
enhance performance and scalability of J2EE-compliant application servers
such as IBM WebSphere and BEA WebLogic. To assist users in developing and
deploying applications based on VDS and Versant enJin, the Company offers
consulting, training and technical support. The Company also offers a
