Getting here and getting around

Northern Kentucky is the southern portion of the Greater Cincinnati Metropolitan Area which is located at the intersection of I-71 and I-75 which run north/south and I-74 which runs westward from its start/end in Cincinnati. On the Kentucky side of the Ohio River, I-71 and I-75 are a single roadway. On the Ohio side of the river, they split and rapidly diverge as they continue northward. Most, but not all, of the metro area is enclosed within the I-275 beltway.

Clicking on the following link will bring up MapQuest directions and a map showing how to get from the Drawbridge Inn (our recommendation for lodging) to the riverboat. Clicking on the buttons on the left side of the map and zooming out to level 6, one button below the pre-set at which the map normally opens, will reveal most of the metro area.

Map and driving directions from the Drawbridge Inn to the BB Riverboat Landing.

On the level 6 version of this map, our house is half-way between the Drawbridge Inn (marked "START" on the map) and the BB Riverboat Landing (marked "END"), at approximately the second "l" in "Villa Hills." Here's how to get to the house from I-71/I-75.

Northbound or southbound, take Exit 189: "KY-1072/Kyles Lane." It's also marked "Fort Wright/Park Hills."

At the end of the ramp, turn west onto Kyles Lane (KY-1072) and go past the Frisch's Big Boy to the stop lights.

Turn right onto Dixie Highway and immediately move into the left lane.

At the next stop lights, turn left onto Sleepy Hollow Road (also KY-1072). The church on the corner is St. Agnes, our parish church. Follow Sleepy Hollow as it curves left and goes down a steep hill.

At the stop sign at the foot of the hill, make a very sharp right turn onto Amsterdam Road.

Proceed about a half-mile on Amsterdam, passing through two stop signs, and then turn left onto Lawton Road, the first street after the second stop sign.

Follow Lawton uphill as it curves to the left and then curves to the right. Our house, 1052 Lawton Road, is the third one on the right after the right-hand curve. There is a towering Blue Spruce and an even larger Hemlock in front.

Directions to the Drawbridge Inn are on the Drawbridge Web site.

Directions to the riverboat are on the BB Riverboat site.
